I am confused about this one.

From what I read, a fire brigade member has been arrested as a farmer was killed from a stampede, caused by the lights and siren.

While I do sympathize with the death of the mans father, I do not really understand how prosecuting the fire engine driver will help things. They were only doing their job, just a case of wrong place, wrong time I guess.

The article isn't clear about the circumstances. If the driver of the fire engine deliberately switched on the siren and lights to try and get the cattle out of the road then there may be a case to answer (it's a stupid thing to do and a trained driver should know better).

That's the way I read it, and if right then the driver was too stupid to be allowed out amongst the rest of us.

Unless there is some specific case law suggesting otherwise, one would think that the harm was too remote to be reasonably foreseeable.
