Evening Standard's week of poverty
Discussion
Evening is correct, Standard, somewhat misleading, but I digress...
Tonights spread is a "woman" who has had 11 kids, and is now complaining that her public funded apartment is not big enough, dirty and rat infested. Her kids only have £7 a day to live on - each, all paid for by the tax payer, as she is too busy with her scab ridden legs in the air, opening her diseased clunge to all and sundry.
I'm sorry, but if you are poor, stop f
king breeding!! Stop expecting society to bail you out!! And worse still, after all taxes, 70% of my gross wages are spent on not dragging her and her brood out of "poverty" (visit parts of the world, see real poverty and then get back to me).
Why don't we just implement the following:
Single parent, never made an NI contribution - one kid, then sterilisation - it's not fair on the kids, and it's not fair on people like me who have worked their arses off for the last 15 years to make something of their lives - we are sick of it, and we are leaving.
And yet 32% believe in "we are doing everything we can" and Labour's "we are the party of the many" - yes - the many will soon be dole scrounging immigrant scum baby breeding factories - well done Labour, my grandparents would be so pround of the horrendous things they had to do to defend our way of life. Luckily they are dead and don't have to see the destruction of the country they fought so hard to defend.
So to summarise - f
k you Gordy, and f
k what you have made the UK!

A house is provided (again, if needs must) for a maximum of two children and so on.

But I assume you work?I am talking about those who have never worked, and then pro-create.

That article also wound me up. Did anyone notice how the only people they asked opinions of were young student lefty's?! It's the same old tax the rich, the rich should do more blah blah blah What ever happened to helping yourselves?! These problems won't be solved by increasing benefits we need to change the metality of these kids and their parents, breaking the spiral of deprevation is very difficult but like the OP said some way of limiting the number of kids these parents can have would be good but at the same time we cannot encroach on people's civil libities. I think education is the key and generally giving kids something worthy to aspire to.
phew, i am not alone.
"£10 a week on sky, our only luxury"
oh fvck off love, you're not in a position to be having any luxuries at all.
"ooh we've got no computer" - well cancel the sky and frigging save up for one. you'll have enough in 6 months for something that does the job.
and i thought the same as tonker. half the brood are old enough to work so they're certainly old enough to slap some value paint and grout around the place.
but the bit that really antagonised me was saying " the only difference between her and the trader woman was the trader woman's wealth" well fvcking duh you've hit the nail on the head there.
_____
oh and the other story in one of the two issues - the bit about the scallies on the sink estate 'not knowing anything about the election, political parties, or their policies'..well i am sorry but i was reading this story in a free effing newspaper so if i can do that so can these sods.

Ok was it just me then that noticed the amounts she was getting???
£698 a week and she is still classed as in poverty.
How the hell does she spend so much on food??? £5 will feed a family of 4 their evening meal, so lets do the maths....
£5 = 2 adults and 2 kids, therefore £13.75 a day gives them their main meal or £96 a week, lets say that breakfast and lunch are half that...
So it would be £192 of the £340+ they spent on food (crisps and sweets no doubt) could feed the family of 11.
It could be done cheaper with bulk buying but hey... I dont want to sound too bad.
Ok lets get onto that £698 they get a week... that would be the same as a salaried person on £50k a year.
But wait it gets better there was no mention of the accomodation in their bills so we must assume they get that for free!! So they live in lewisham in a 4 bed house (dont remember seeing the word Flat) and that equates to 1400-2000 a month in free housing... lets say its 1500 a month.
So she gets £698 a week and £1500 a month for rent (£1075 per week), so for the equivilent worker to have that much they would have to earn £84000 a year.
Salary worked out here:

These people are in poverty guys and girls and we should pay MORE, I want to see her earning 6 figures before the end of the year!!

Apparently she did have a job once, but had to give it up to have another child.
Presumably she didn't notice that she was poor before she had the first child, or the second, or the third, or the fourth and I'm guessing that after the first ten were born it suddenly became apparent that the way to get a bit more cash was to have an eleventh?

...it's costing the taxpayer a small fortune, the state funding her housing costs, council tax, and daily living expenses to the tune of £38,844 a year. Yet seen from her children's point of view, after housing costs, the family are left with £543 a week to live on, the equivalent of just £7 a child per day, and well below the poverty line for a family like theirs of £689 per week.
It's clearly a national disgrace that the taxpayer is only funding this woman's lifestyle to the tune of £70,000 per year. She clearly deserves for us to pay for a better standard of living for her than a mere £70k can provide - she's earned it by having 11 kids by 5 different men, none of whom seem overly bothered about supporting their children.Apparently she did have a job once, but had to give it up to have another child.

Nobody made me question what I was doing. Maybe, with the right support, I could have diverted my creative energy into things other than having children. I certainly hadn't planned to have so many. You know, mistakes happen and I don't believe in abortion.
Well knock me down with a feather, it's not her fault that she gave birthto so many future criminals and is now living "in poverty" - somebody should have questioned her and given her the "right support".

There's no such thing as poverty in Britain, there is plenty of poverty in India, China, Africa etc
What we have is poor people, I refuse to believe there is anyone in the UK who would be denied benefits and forced to live with the clothes they stand up in and no more
How true that is, I was in Chennai, India last week and Cape Town, South Africa before Christmas and these people should take a look at the slums they have there. What we have is poor people, I refuse to believe there is anyone in the UK who would be denied benefits and forced to live with the clothes they stand up in and no more
A four bedroom house with running hot water and plumbing and living on "just" £7 per day is beyond the wildest dreams of the people who live there.
I saw a toddler taking a dump on the ground outside the 10ft by 6ft tin shack that his family called home, surrounded by rubbish, stray dogs and so on, because clearly his ramshackled hut didn't have any plumbing facilities.
The tuk tuk drivers literally call their vehicles home, that's where they spend all day making a pittance and what breaks they do take at night asleep, parked up at the side of the road.
Funnily enough these people manage to show some responsibility and not have 11 children and expect the government to support them.

damn I was out by £100 a week in my figures!!
Still not bad considering my pee was boiling and I was not a happy chappy paying for this person...
Almost as bad as the wannabe dancer that despite only having 5 GCSEs and no A-Levels he wants to go to a dance Uni???
Yet he lived across from a famous one in islington and didnt know it existed???
And the poor soul was SO UPSET at reject from jobs after sending out 32 applications... I was sending more than that out every 2 days when on the doles.
this quote from ES sums it up really:
What on earth is this? London's (the UK's) poor are better provided for with cash benefits, free healthcare, free housing and free education, than anywhere else in the world. There is nothing to be ashamed of, particularly in comparison with other major cities around the world. Ever been to the slums in Indian cities like Mumbai? Not to mention conditions in many African cities.

I still beleive that rather than paying out child benefits, there should be a reduction in income tax on wages so that those encouraged to breed are those trying to make a living rather than sponging off the taxpayer. At present, it seems to be that the UK is breeding a generation of useless spongers whilst those who actually try to work cannot afford kids....I worry for the future!
I bet someone on £55k supporting his wife and 10 kids would get no help of benefits off the system and they would give them a b
king for her not keeping her legs together saying its their own fault.
But if someone who does it that has nothing to start with and gives nothing to the system and are unemployed, they get free house and everything, then we are asked to help them even more.
How does the government justify that?
