This fellow was on the news this morning talking wild stuff such as "lowering taxes stimulates economies", etc. biggrin He led a "tax tea party" in the lefty area of Brighton, similar to what's going on over here. Who is this fellow exactly and how is he perceived in the UK/Europe?

Hannan is a proper conservative in a pseudo conservative party.

I like his ideas but his party won't have him anywhere near policy making so he doesnt really have much influence

IMO if the Conservatives had someone like him in charge then there would be no doubt about who would be PM after the next election, and it wouldn't be Winky.

Most on PH like him. The lefties hate him as some sort of "right wing nutter who hates the NHS" (he famously said he "wouldn't wish it on anyone" in a us interview last year).

I think he has more exposure in the states than here, tbh. Eloquent guy who actually has a vision. More MPs should be like him IMO, even if their views are different.

We can't have anyone upsetting the European-Social Democracy.

The lizards will get in again.

He's the sort of Conservative that most people would vote for, from what I've read and seen, his point of focus seems to be on what is good for the people who elected him.

With what you all say, it is mysterious that his party does not make him the lead fellow.

I didn't like him at school, and nothing's changed my view since.

Did you attend school with him or didn't like him while you were at school?

Bothbiggrin To be fair I didn't have a great deal to do with him as we mixed with different circles.

Somehow I cannot see Hannan being one of the 'Jocks', unless he has Scottish ancestory, definitely in the nerd camp.

I remeber seeing that at the time. Funny how it didnt get much mainstream coverage! Hannan is a great orator and has the rare combination of being a politician with something to say and that something is worth hearing.

I had enough contact to know I didn't particularly like him.

But that must have been 20/30 years ago. Do you really think he's the same person as he was as a schoolkid.
