The new government of the EU has decided it will kick off with a Climate Change Tax on Fuel, lovely stuffrolleyes

"The idea of using fuel duties and eco-taxes to give the EU a direct and independent source of income has long been demanded by the Commission. Proposals currently circulating in Brussels could mean that all airline tickets, shopping and petrol station receipts in Britain list the amount of aviation tax, VAT or fuel duty that goes directly to Brussels as an "EU tax".

Time to Vote UKIP or take up arms.

CMD will just carry on where Winky leaves off.

Funny how it is referred to as an income... That of itself tells you that it is not to protect the environment, just a load of s***e to make more money.

But WHAT can we do?

Short of some assasinations, there is very little we can do.

The last few years have set a precident. It doesn't matter what the public think, they'll sigh and cough up as always.

I really do think it is now time for direct action. This current strain of 'democracy' needs culling in a spectacular manner that makes people sit up and takes note.

Is this an attempt to split the Tory vote and force people to vote UKIP?

Fancy that.
What's so maddening is that it all occurs exactly as predicted, but still there is nothing we can do about it mad

The country can't afford it.

The people can't afford it.

They can deduct it from what the govt takes, but another fuel hike is bonkers. It will break people and businesses if it's significant.

This is either a glib comment taken out of context, or the thin end of a likely wedge.

Rather than saying "A vote for UKIP is a vote for Brown" you might as well say "A vote for Brown or Dave is a vote for the EUSSR".

Since most governments of EU countries are minimally invasive, mission creep has a long way to go before they'll notice. Sadly, in the UK, we are already breaking under the strain of big brother invasion, taxation and know-best.

I'm wondering how I can offshore my assets before taking up the dole and putting my feet up. fkem. If you want to tax people into obliteration, we might as well go on the take until the country is financially broken scratchchin

It has to be a wind up IMO. smile

well, nothing would surprise me these days, yet another brilliant wheeze with little joined-up thinking. So it's a EU wide tax on energy consumption and basically as we have very little nuclear capability in the UK then it's another dump onto electricity production. Yep, there's fuel usage, but electricity is probably the more universal tax to be gained.

And if you're in Turkey, Greece, Italy, Southern France, Spain, etc, etc, then it's not so bad. Your winters are generally milder than the more northern states, your heating requirements are lower and thus you'll pay less taxes. Pity about the more northern states though, apart from being colder, we'll have to stump up even more to fund the gravy train.

All I can say is that I'm ever so glad that the Met Office has today announced that the case for MMGW is even stronger than ever.

Nothing surprising about this at all, if winky somehow gets into power, I'll put a whole case of Jaffa cakes on us having an additional EU income tax within 2 years.

Enoch Powell was wrong................it’s not immigration that will lead to rivers of blood in the UK, it will be our forced integration into the Super EU Socialist State

How come ? Did they shove a thermometer up Al Gores arse and claim it was 37*C average in the UK last month during the snow and ice?

are but are they, the met office say they have re-looked at stuff and they are sure man is causing the problem.

well they would wouldn't they, government funded, and a AGW zealot in charge, plus they share data with places like the CRU so its in their own interest to pretend to be independent and yet sell us up the swanny for more funding and taxes.
