It seems that our EU overlords are getting worried that we may not have enough cash left to continue donating billions to the EU and have now told winky that the UK must reduce public spending, or face some sort of intervention ala Greece.

On one hand it’s a great kick in the teeth for winky (which isn’t a bad thing) however it’s also another sign of EU intervention in UK policy (which is a very very bad thing)

I'm inclined to think that the future of the EUSSR is almost as doomed as climate change.

When the 2nd biggest contributer is likely to need to go to the IMF.

Seriously, the country is totally fked and we are chucking money in this pot still.

It's like being on the dole and having a crack habit scratchchin

Well, I'd rather we reduced our contributions to the EU and spent more on ourselves. Funny how the EU doesn't think of that option......

By my back of a fag packet reckoning, about half of what the EU says needs to be saved would have been covered by the EU rebate that Tony Blair skillfully negotiated away a few years ago.
Why aren't the papers screaming about the complete and deliberate wrecking of our economy by Blair and Winky?

From a personal perspective, the EU has been great. It's allowed us to do business far easier than if borders were still there. Also, we've been billing in Euros for the last 9 years smile

Yet all we've seen is an increase in paperwork, restrictive legislation and taxation, with no noticeable benefit either as a business owner or taxpayer!

Would that not have happened with or without EU involvement?

Won’t stop them trying and with our weak submissive government, this will only result in a few whimpers of dissent from winky followed by rolling over and doing whatever he’s told

No more paperwork really compared to doing business in the UK and from a personal perspective, less tax overall to pay than being in the UK.

What so the UK can become even more of a backwater than it already is? Good luck.

If they are not ALLOWED to do anything - what on earth would they be TRYING to do?

As the UK is not in the Euro, the EU has no power to dictate what happens in our economy.

Seems to be that at some point "we" signed up to the EU stability rules and have now breached them

"Britain is liable for assessment by the European Commission because it breached EU stability rules, which say that debts cannot exceed 3 per cent of gross domestic product."
