Sorry what??

This is what religeon does to people I suppose.

"He was arrested by Saudi Arabia's religious police (known as the Mutawa'een)"

Sounds like a religous version of the Stasi if you ask me.

Good luck to the guy.

And to think you get putting up in a warm comfortable cell with a TV in this country for being a mere murderer...

Why do we do business with them again? Surely there are other oil producers out there

Why do we care what they do, unless they threaten us.

Yeah, but I thought we wouldn't do business with regimes that terrorise their people?

That is a good point. I made that statement because we seem to care when they do stuff like this, but don't bat an eyelid when buying their oil. Does money mean more to us than our morals/democracy?

We have enough on our plate looking after our own morals/democracy and participating in various other conflicts.

I see now the reason why Margaret Beckett didn't want to go to Saudi Arabia when she was Foreign Secretary.

:My it please the court. If i really was a sorceror and could predict the future do you really think i would be dense enough to have come here?"

OT was talkin gto an old boy who spent a number of years in Saudi 20+ years ago. He said the first thing a lot of people did when landing back at LHR would be to deck the first arabian looking person man they saw such was the frustration built up in them over what they had seen these intolerant arses do.

His wife, dressed in all of the appropriate clothing and scarfs would often have her heels struck by one of the religious police with the cane they all carried for showing the flesh of her ankles, even when it was an impossiblility for that to have happened. He had to resist the temptation to argue or retaliate as all that would have happened is they would have just been dragged off on some made up charge.

I know i am missing out massively with all the places i would love to visit in the middle east but i refuse to go anywhere near the place until they get some sense of proportion. Without that the chances of me making it back are slim as i doubt i could stand by.

Considering the majority of 9/11 perpretrators were Saudi and they rule their people with a very strict regime why do we still pander to their every whim?

Why are religions so afraid of witches, sorcerors, etc?

They make a practice of asking the man in the sky to intervene through magic, etc. So why, through the ages, attack people doing something so similar?
