Fook Me!!!!

He's only 42!

That's not news to me.....but whenever I see a pic of him next to his age in an article, it always makes me do a double take (he looks fricking 60!).

Only going one way sadly.

What a sad story of genius blighted by demons.

The sad thing is that almost the entire country has seen this coming since the mid 90's. He could/should have been up there with Maradona, instead he's got Italia 90 and a Rangers career to look back on....what a waste.

To be fair, you could have chosen a better comparison there wink

I mean his 'mates' like Jimmy five bellies. Also the fans who forever worship him and will always buy him a drink.

As I said the North East - it's one big enabler. Getting falling down drunk every weekend is part of the cultural heritage. I was only half joking.

Reminds me of that Man Utd chap who passed away. Mind you, he was older.

No, George Best - mainly due to similar newspaper headlines he managed to generate.

Shame he never went to Man Utd where he would have been looked after by SAF, who has done a pretty good job of keeping footballers on the (relatively) straight and narrow.

Still, as long as he's happy.

I know very little of football, and don't follow it at all.

However, even I can recognise a goal he scored against (I think) Scotland where he chipped the ball over a defender and caught it and volleyed it in as a remarkable, sublime, piece of sporting greatness.

The only time the game has made go 'wow'.

No one would deny that, for a while, he was one of the best players in the world - after Italia 90 he should have gone on to have a stellar career - even after years of boozing and abuse he managed that goal against the Jocks - what could have been.....

Agreed yes

I couldn't give a two hoots about football, and know even less about it, yet that goal did make me go 'wow'!

(and I'm a Jock hehe )
