Fish and Chip Wrapper said:
A plan for a riverboat restaurant could be sunk because it will interrupt men and women at a notorious ‘dogging’ site nearby.

Cruising hotspot The cruising hotspot is beside the proposed site of the river boat eaterie (sic) and police have warned of a ‘clash of interests’

The proposed three-deck floating restaurant on the River Nene, near Midsummer Meadows, Northampton, is close to an area used by male and female cruisers and cottagers.

Website gay-247.co.uk calls it a place where ‘fun can be found in-car and in the bushes as well’ but warns fun lovers ‘don’t leave your sex litter behind though, it gives us a bad name’. The Northants Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Alliance said it will harm the openness, natural character and freedom of the area.

Northampton Council planning officers acknowledged local gay groups were worried their ‘post-dusk social networking activities’ in the car park could be spoiled.’

Northamptonshire Police also warned there could be a clash of interests between locals and cruisers but have no objections to the application. Northampton Borough Council’s planning committee meets next week to discuss the proposal and many councillors support it.

Andrew Gilliver, of the Lesbian and Gay Foundation, said: ‘What about the needs of the gay community? How are they being met in terms of bars and clubs and social spaces?

‘Maybe people are meeting there because there is nowhere else for them to go.’
"The Northants Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Alliance said it will harm the openness, natural character and freedom of the area."

WTF is cottaging?
No, I am not going to google it. It'll be depressing, I'm sure of it. Ignorance is bliss.

What the owner of the restaurant should be doing is going down with some friends and using some Hella light rigs and soon they wont be turning up.

The scary thing is I have just discovered that this is around the corner from me.

I think that the restaurant is the least of their worries, the new marina for canal boats is already being built their.

I wonder if the fact it is right opposite the Avon offices has anything to do with it?

Makes you wonder how many people worked on this non offensive sentence? (PC gone mad..there, I have said it hehe)

Although joking aside. This has caused a lot of problems and a great local picnicking spot has now been closed to traffic due to this exact problem.
