How can the BBC be so politically biased?
Discussion
Its really grating me now, it was bad enough before winky called the election, but now they are in new labia overdrive.
The BBC’s Charter and its Producers Guidelines state:...“Due impartiality lies at the heart of the BBC. All programs and services should be open minded, fair and show a respect for truth… [BBC reports should] contain comprehensive, authoritative and impartial coverage of news and current affairs in the United Kingdom and throughout the world…”
The BBC has an obligation to be strictly neutral in political terms, however its Leftist inclinations are an observable fact.
anyone get annoyed by it?

At least you know where you stand with the papers - they don't try to hide their biases.
The BBC is supposed to be impartial. After all, it is paid for by all of us and should represent all of our views.
It is shame that it isn't.
Just take a look at the extent of cross-fertilisation between the Guardian and the BBC - lots of the same people keep cropping up in both camps.

What has annoyed you? The declaration seems perfectly reasonable. Usually, when people feel things in the media are unfair, it means they don't agree with it, not that there is bias involved. If you want bias, try the papers!
The declaration is perfectly reasonable.
The question is whether the Beeb sticks to it. Many think not.
Surely something similar happens on here? Politically PH is neutral (as far as I can see anyway!) but in many non-car threads a distinct political bias appears.
It's not the organisation/group but the political inclinations of the people who comprise it which is what produces the political leaning. Those who don't like PH can go elsewhere. Those who don't like the Beeb can too - but they still have to pay for it

What annoys me the most is there is absolutely nothing I or anyone can do about BBC bias. If I refuse to pay my licence on the grounds of their political bias their have me prosecuted.
But you can complain to the Brown Broadcasting Corporation about it. I have even complained to my MP about the BBC being impartial. I believe there is a way to complain directly to the BBC trust.Otherwise, don't worry, on May 7th heads will roll in the BBC and it will be vastly different. (Hopefully).
BBC is not biased throughout the spectrum of programmes, but news and current affairs is undoubtedly VERY left-leaning – I think the Marr show being the worse. The last show I watched, he was interviewing a British actor, and near the end, for no apparent reason and with absolutely no prompting from the guest, Marr said almost under his breath “I know you lean to the left, politically..” as if to inform the viewers that this ‘cool dude’ was also a labour supporter. Very blatant, very wrong.
I hope he doesn’t get another series, and ends up asking Cameron to smell his cheese, the mother!

I dunno about the whole spectrum being unbiased apart from news and current affairs. The subliminal messages and moral tales of a lot of drama adheres to a pseudo-Marxist, PC-dominated creed. Certainly some of the children's programs my children watch are beginning to make me concerned (has anyone watched Tracy Beaker?) while a lot of programmes hint at how right is bad, anyone criticising left-liberal views is painted as a right-wing bigot.I hope he doesn’t get another series, and ends up asking Cameron to smell his cheese, the mother!

As for news and current affairs - they are to the Labour Party what Sinn Fein was to PIRA - mealy mouthed and condoning the cultural, social, constitutional, economic and political vandalism by the Labour Government.
The current BBC is a shocking disgrace to the once good name of the service. Historically, people in many countries around the world would tune in to hear the news, as it was honest, truthful, and even accurate. It is now a mere shadow of its former self, no longer trustworthy, or honest.

Really pissed me off!
What the Vine show only pissed you off today? I cant stand the prick! He has the most stupidest of people on the show that have absolutely no idea on how to form a coherent sentence...and worst of all filled with either "Ums", "Ers", "Like" or "You knows" I would sooner have Steve Wright on for 4 hours than listen to Vine! And that isnt something I would normally go with!!Really pissed me off!

The BBC is a media organisation, nothing more nothing less. Like Sky , ITV, etc
Sainsbury's is a supermarket, just like Morrisons, Tesco etc.
Why do I need to pay a license to the BBC if I only watch ITV? Should I be paying a license fee to Sainsbury's , if I only use Tesco?
The BBC is corrupt, its easy to spend other peoples money. If they are that good, then scrap the license fee and let them go subscription. People who want their service can have it.
Time the state propaganda ministry shut up shop.

this show is the Daily Mail of the airwavesReally pissed me off!

I would have thought the typical PHer would have loved it.
This BBC bias thing comes up every 2.5 weeks.
And the standard reply is "listen to Radio 4" you plebs
They've just been interviewing Nick Griffin, they tried to get him on his european parliament expenses, his answers seemed reasonable, he managed to avoid blurting out *kill the darkies* tourettes style (as I imagine they hoped). Then the satellite link mysteriously froze...
Oh well... at least some feeble minded people won't be tricked into voting for him by his apparent reasonableness....
Stifling debate by feigning technical faults, they wouldn't, would they...?
