Camilla has broken a leg!
Discussion
I met her years back and I have to say she was extremely nice and gracious.
I was serving with the Household Cavalry in Knightsbridge at the time and it was the yearly ball - held at the Lancaster Hotel IIRC. I was duty driver that evening and found out I was responsible for taking her and her husband at the time, Brigadier Parker Bowles, to the event.
Normally you'd do the standard duries in a Landy but for this I was to take the CO's car - a Carlton. Only problem was the CO had already buggered off to the event and had left his keys at home and no one could get them. So I had to squeeze the two of them into the back of a Metro which was the only other non-military car we had.
She was in full blown ballgown get up, tiara etc... get up and he was in full dress kit. He had to take his spurs off, manked up his mirror like boots on the bottom of the seat in front of him and she was squeezed into the back with her skirt piled on top of her lap.
I was so embarrassed when I had to tell a Senior Officer that his carriage awaits but it's a Metro and that he and his wife will have to jump in the back.
Anyway - they were both extremely nice and apologised to me for putting me in that position and were very polite during the journey and were very interested to find out that I was one of the very few people to go through mounted training not actually being in the Blues & Royals (I was REME). They were also kind enough to have a word with my CO and he came and thanked me the next day for taking care of them.
So, I wish her a speedy recovery.
