Discussion
Gay couples adopting is something I'm not comfortable with.
Why? Nothing other than my own instinct in relation to the role models that kids need when they're growing up. Who wants to be the kid at school with two dads? Whatever you think, no kid at school wants to be "different".
Therefore, I also think there's an element of selfishness on the part of gay couples who adopt.
It might be an old fashioned view but there you go.

My understanding is that those that want a Gay marriage would like it to have the same rights/recognition as a straight marriage. This seems perfectly reasonable. What's the problem with that?
Why?If straight people wanted to jump off a cliff would gay people?
If you don't give a gay marriage the same recognition then by definition it is something less than a straight marriage. All they want is for their marriage to be of the same standing as a straight marriage. It's got nothing to do with them wanting to 'copy' straight people.
What is your opinion of it? Why do you feel that a gay marriage shouldn't receive the same recognition?

Do you have zero/one/two stag/hen nights? Which parents pay for the wedding? Just too complicated

Is that the sole intellectual justification you have? 'Because the gays want it'? That is weak, just like asking (the 'opposition') for reasons why gay marriage should not be allowed. Can you assert no REASON for gay marriage in itself?
Gay marriage can never be the same as conventional marriage. One is opposite sex couples, the other isn't.
I'm loving that 'because the gays want it' cannot be a valid justification, but at the same time because you say 'it isn't the same as a conventional marriage' is perfectly reasonable. Can you see the hypocrisy?Gay marriage can never be the same as conventional marriage. One is opposite sex couples, the other isn't.
I'd also like to point out that both myself and others have asked you your opinions in a perfectly reasonable manner and you have failed time and time again to answer. Therefore, I am done debating this with you as you clearly just want to try and (badly) pick holes in other peoples opinions.

Why do you want my opinion? So you can denounce me as a homophobe? Nice argument...oh you don't have one.
Only if your opinions are homophobic surely?SmoothRB said:
Why is questioning gay marriage homophobic?
Or maybe labeling people like me homphobe is an anti-intelectual device you use to kill debate and discussion? Nobody wants to be denounced do they?
That's not what I wrote at all is it? I said that if your opinions are homophobic then you would be labelled as homophobic - simple statement of fact I would've thought no?Or maybe labeling people like me homphobe is an anti-intelectual device you use to kill debate and discussion? Nobody wants to be denounced do they?
But as you haven't told us your opinion of gay marriage and why you think it's not acceptable then we'll never know if you're homophobic or not will we?
