From what I can gather from the snippets on the news, labour's manifesto is basicaly a list of corrections of things they have made a balls of. From what Brown has been telling everyone is that the UK is a bed of roses and we've never had it better...

The bbc says Labour have said they won't raise income tax. They said this last time and kept to it for a long time, income tax was only raised a few days ago.

SHame they did't say they wouldn't raise NI, or add a whole load more taxes instead. They did this last time, and if they get in again, they'll do it again.

Base rate fo income tax? You're right - it didn't move for ages. However, everyone knows that NI is just the same at the end of the day and that went up pretty early. Plus, as you said, hundreds of other taxes will be raised.

Still not heard anything regarding cuts and public sector reorganisation.

You won't - people who understand the necessity for same would never vote Liebore anyway.

Hmmmmm - so they are using a nice shiney new hospital for party political use? Didn't think that sort of thing was kosher.

Also, the labour lot keep talking about £540m investment in the hostpital but only one journo has noted that it will actually cost over £3bn to the taxpayer over the years as it's a PFI project.

The only good thing about the Labour manifesto is that the long term unemployed will be offered a job by the state and have their benefits removed if they decline.

Of course being Labour the jobs are too well paid, and in nonsense industries like installing solar panels, but the principle is sound.

Instead of given people benefits, give them the opportunity to work for their money, no work no money. Though of course the short term unemployed should be exempt.

When Brown says "Investment" it's a euphemism for "pissed away".

Surely they've done enough, now. Surely.

I'm thinking of turning off the telly soon. I'm trying to work but I know I'll just end up shouting at the telly for the next hour and I'll have to clear everything throwable of the desk.

The Labour Party summed up.

It's a slow day in a little East Anglian Town. The sun is beating down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt and everybody lives on credit.

on this particular day a rich tourist from London is driving through town. He stops at the Hotel and lays £100 on the desk saying that he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.

As soon as the man walks upstairs, the owner grabs the cash and runs next door to pay is debt to the Butcher. The Butcher takes the £100 and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer.

The pig farmer takes the £100 and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feeds and fuel. The guy at the farmers Co-op takes the £100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her services on credit.

The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner. The hotel proprietor then places the £100 back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything.

At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the £100 and states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money and leaves town.

No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism.

And that ladies and gentlemen, is how the British Government is conducting business today!

Sky news website is showing what I assume to be the front page. Think of a propaganda poster from the war or behind the Iron Curtain and you're not far off eek

Labour are holding the launch in a soon-to-be-opened hospital. Election rules forbid them from carrying out such business in public institutions - but apparently it's ok as it's still in private hands while being built.

Outrageous.

bbc said:
Labour promised not to raise income tax in its 2005 manifesto, but went on to introduce a new 50p tax rate for incomes over £150,000.

Mr Miliband said a "once-in-a-generation" economic crisis had meant they had to raise the top rate of tax adding: "It is certainly our firm intention to keep the promises, keep the proposals we are putting forward in this manifesto."
For "firm intention" read "worthless lie".

For a change!
