Deceased leaves estimated £400k to the girl guides association

10 years before he was convicted of peadophilia following the rape of a 9yr old and abuse of a 5 and 6 yr old.

Was he trying to atone for his past actions, or was it more sinister? I'd like to think the former, but worry if its the latter- if it is the latter, should the girlguides refuse? That would seem a little counterproductive- the blokes dead now so isn't going to abuse anyone else, so perhaps it should be spent on helping abused kids?

if we can leave out the daily wail vitriol that would be nice!

ETA the link- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/south_of_scotl...

not sure why it didn't take the first time!

Yeah I was a bit confused with how to take that one...

At the end of the day it's cold hard cash, it has no memory or emotion.

I would think he's trying to make up. You can't be evil when you're dead!

How would it be sinister? Does each of the 400,000 £1 coins have to have a girl guide sleep with them?

If he were still bad wouldn't he have blown his £400,000 up some 9 yr old hooker in thailand?

maybe sinister isn't the right word, but it certainly seems a bit odd. To me it feels like a tainted donation- as if when he wrote his will it gave him pervers pleasure to think "of all the little girls plying with my money". Its not quite right.

Isn't it the case that it was his wife who was previously closely involved with the Girl Guides; hence the donation?

Bank accounts, like girlfriends, can never be filthy enough. Sadly my bank account is as clean as a whistle.

I don't know. Maybe I'm not thinking right. There seems to be a lot of objection to it, though.

I'm disappointed, I'll let you keep your clean bank account then.
