I've said it before and I'll say it again; if someone is found inside your home who shouldn't be there, then all bets are off - do to them what you like. A few more dead burglars will do more to discourage burglary than wrist-slaps and hugs.

Good news.
The CPS dropped it because they realised the lying scrote was just that, lying! If he had stuck to his first story then the defendant would be going to court. And it would be up to 12 peers to convict or aquit him.

While i agree with your point of view, sadly i suspect high-profile cases like this will just lead to criminals upping the stakes in their favour by going around tooled up to kill more often. When this happens how do we counter it?

The only way i can see is to make it too risky a proposition to the criminals by relaxing home defense in a big way and where do you draw that line? Relax ownership of weapons? Allow ownership of defensive measures? (Where can i find a beartrap scratchchin)

They go round tooled up anyway. The ones in the OP were.

This.

And a man should have a right to defend his home. I know if I found someone in my property, I'd do my utmost to ruin them.

It is sad that this took so long. Just how difficult was it to ask yourself whether or not the two housebreakers might also be willing to lie about it?

The CPS and the defendant will get a lot of flack for this.

God on them for making the right decision though. As someone above said, if someone's in your house who isn't suppose to be there, do what you like.

My god repost. I posted this ages ago and compared it to the bloke that got banged up for banging up a burglar.

Home Owner 1, Burglar 0.

Good stuff, sensible decision for once.

Well, not really. The law of the land still applies in your house.

I think it would be a can of worms if we were able to kill intruders, and would no doubt be manipulated. I don't see anything wrong with the system that we have, and today's case goes to show that the system works, although common sense is sometimes lacking.

Easy. Mandatory 6 six year sentence for carrying a knife, 12 for a firearm. And none of this early release s**t either.

I'm fully aware of the law, i'm saying i think it should be a policy of my land my rules. If we were allowed to stab them,i bet crime rates would drop. This is an over exaggeration, but currently, the good guy is often made to be the bad guy and criminals do not have much to fear, especially with prison overcrowding as well, meaning sentencing guide lines cannot always be adhered to and often a slap on the wrist is all that can be offered.
