I know that on a recent (and quickly deleted) thread another PH'er was called "special", but that was really meant in it's truest term.

The story in the link was about a guy who was genuinely in need of real help, he didn't get, he got beaten to death, tortured and humiliated. By someone he called a friend, that friend had 14 convictions for 22 previous offences. How the hell was he even free to do this?

Labour (and the Lib Dems will do worse on this score) have destroyed any sense of right and wrong or decency, by it's failure to lock up people like this. How come when Joe Public read stories like this they don't see the warning signs?

The saddest part to read is this
BBC said:
Richard said: "One day I said to him 'why are you putting up with it?' and he said to me 'I love you lot, you are my family'."
The poor man really had nowhere to go.

You know, this just sounded like a lost dog that gets kicked and kicked but still wags its tail for its master, just to please them.

Utter fking scum. No doubt will be given all the help they can to 'rehabilitate'

Yes despite having him in their hands the police turned him back to his eventual killers.

"The police became aware of allegations Mr Gilbert had been abducted from the street in Cambridge after the Watts tracked him down.

He confirmed to officers this was true, but told them he did not want to pursue a complaint because "it would make it worse for me in the long run".

Det Ch Insp Jon Humphries of Bedfordshire Police said he believed nothing more could have been done by the authorities to save him, adding that I think all did their best at the time."

They could have (should have) sectioned him for his own protection, and have distanced him from his tormentors.

Shameful.

On BBC now, the scum look exactly how I imagined. Hope they're all locked up for a very long time.

Totally disgraceful.

Surely a secure home/hostel could have been found for him where he couldn't have been found/would have been protected.

Lets hope the inmates wherever they go fin out about what they have done. I'm sure a few of them will learn how to be slaves whilst doing there time.

Seems a bit like the baby p trials. The authorities knew what was gong on but couldn't be arsed to help.

If it goes on like this i could imagine a UK wide Vigilante group doing what the police and courts wont.

Only 45? I'd need thousands*, and that ain't because I'm a bad shot!

that's because it's just a numbers game; it's easier to control the big numbers; 'the little ones'; they don't matter...

I'm coming to believe that the state is a cause of these kinds of incidents rather than the solution.

The state seems to have removed our ability to care for our own society. Too often people "Leave things to the authorities". The problem is the authorities only care for their own wealth and power.

It's not even really a state; it's just a giant commercial-industrial complex of people, some are assets, most are disposables. Big business, corporates, and the government which is the biggest business of all is what we (are allowed to) exist for; we are run by an elite that exists beyond arms length to 'the little numbers'. Thatcher told the truth when she said there is no such thing as society, all there is are 'vested interests'. Eventually we will be standardised within the EU superstate whereupon we will be governed, protected and given freedoms based on cost factors alone.
