He's gonna be fine, taken to hospital. It would be ironic if said hospital is staffed by Eastern European immigrants

Yes, lazy journalism as usual. It takes a matter of seconds to look up the registration and discover that the aircraft is a PZL-104, which is a high-wing monoplane."The aircraft, believed to be a biplane, had flown into the airfield from Winchester area and was taking off again when the accident happened, the spokesman said. "

The plane involved is a PZL 104 Wilga (G-BWDF). Definitely NOT a biplane.

These are quite powerful Polish built lioght aircraft which is why they are popular for banner towing or glider towing.
I saw the fatal crash of one of these at an Irish airshow in 1984. The front end of the plane is quite spindly and in the Irish crash the heavy radial engine came back into the cockpit - crushing the puilot. The views of the wreckage of Farage's plane seem to show the same type of damage.
He is am extremely lucky chap to have survived this.

Yes becuase the real newsworthy item is what sort of plane it was. Not the fact that it crashed or who was in it.
That's beside the point. If something is to be reported it should be factually correct, not a guess. It's a cop out to say 'believed to be' when it is a trivial matter to check the details that are readily available.Mr Gearchange said:
But it matters not one iota other than to plane geeks who want to point out how their knowledge of planes is superior to that of a BBC news reporter.
It's completely immaterial to the news story.
Absolute nonsense. It's completely immaterial to the news story.
Is there not an onus on reporters to find out the FACTS as best they can before committing to their report?
If they are sloppy in one area, it leads one to believe they are sloppy in others too.
I look on errors such as this an indicator of poor journalistic standards, not inferior knowledge of a particular subject.

But, if they can't get the facts right, what credence can you put on the rest of their reporting? It's completely immaterial to the news story.

Irony. Here's the aircarft that I saw crash back in 1984. In fact, this picture was taken just minutes before it came down -

And the aftermath -

They also can't tell the difference between a C-17 and a Hercules transport."The aircraft, believed to be a biplane, had flown into the airfield from Winchester area and was taking off again when the accident happened, the spokesman said. "
