Great insight - what with him being filmed and photographed killing people

True. Have any convicted terrorists in the western world been given the death sentance? I don't recall any, and India's got the right idea on this one.

If this guy had made a deal to give up information for some leniancy we'd all be up in arms about it. India's showing it's got teeth and won't be deterred. I can respect that.

Tomothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, was executed in 1991.

The British routinely hanged Jewish terrorists in Palestine, Mau Mau terrorists in Kenya and EOKA terrorists in Cyprus. An IRA terrorist was sentenced to death in Northern Ireland in 1972 but was reprieved - the last death sentence to be handed down in the UK I believe.

Or did you just mean modern islamist terrorists?

He certainly deserves to swing in my book. That ruinned my trip to watch the India v England test match in Bombay. It was cancelled, and they burnt down our hotel 48hours before we were due to arrive. We'd really been looking forward to joining our Indian friends at the match and had been invited to join the Garawah Club where they supply a sumptious curry lunch and cold beer (unobtainable elsewhere in the ground) and even thoughtfully provide a "beerwallah" whose job it is to top up your glass thoughout the day.

Hanging's too good for the like of him.

Can I watch the killing live on TV? I'd like to watch him hang.
It's about as high profile as it gets so there's a good chance of a clip getting on the internet after the event. Depends on whether the Indians do it publicly or not, and since they've only done 1 or 2 in the last 15 years there's not been a chance for people with mobile phones to capture it before.

I would suggest that the event is a good ten to fifteen years away given the appeal and counter appeal that is likely to follow.

I think that this is the best advocation for the death penalty ever (I'd have been royally fked off too).

Because I want to see him suffer. I would like to see many more rapists and serial killers and kiddy fiddlers hanged. This country and many others are far too soft. I would enjoy seeing him hanging with a rope around his neck.

These lefties do my head in.

OK, if its a punch up in a pub and someone accidentally dies then that shouldn't see the death penalty etc but someone with a machine gun killing hundreds of innocent people going about their lives deserves to be punished. Personally, i'd kill him slowly to put out a message to people. If this was more the punishment crime would go down.

I will enjoy seeing one mass killer wiped off the face of this earth - we don't need him in society
I agree with the sentiment that capital punishment should be applied for certain crimes.
I wouldn't want to watch somebody die though. To revel in the suffering and death of someone else is sadistic at best - and borderline psychotic at worst

Big difference between someone raping my wife and someone setting fire to a hotel on the otheside of the world (as callous as that may sound)

Yes if someone hurt/raped/killed my family then they would have me to deal with - it would be very very very unpleasant for them.

But I have no desire to be a voyuer of other peoples pain and suffering if their actions hadn't massively effected me in a direct way.

Why not go out to Iran? They are always hanging and stoning people out there - you could take your video camera and everything....

Yeah. I don't see them dawdling here, they won't be quite as efficient as the Chinese but I'd be surprised if he didn't get the drop this year.

Not really. It may not seem it to us westerners but the idea of dying for this cause is why these guys sign up for the mission.
The fact he wasn't killed would in fact of been a shaming incident in his terrorist career but now the Indian government are going to set that right for him.
Now instead of relative obscurity in 5 years time he'll appear in posters all over the middle east and sub-continent.
I doubt very much anyone would have protested for his release if they'd banged him up for life.
