One Tory MP tells Sky News' Jon Craig "We're going to be shafted, it's going to be a stitch up"

Guess Clegg is the better poker player then

ITV are saying similar.

And the Queens come home....

Clegg is apparently meeting with his MPS and the rest of the party at the moment.

Meanwhile Gordon has apparently started blockading the door.

Will there be compulsory Morris Dancing and beards/

I fear that all those who thought Clegg looked nice and had a lovely tie have never met a real, live Lib Dem. The food in the beard, the 2CV, et al.

Do you think that is a Liberal ploy to get the Con-servatives to play ball?

I suspect we will see a more staged introduction of some cuts, an offer of a voting reform referendum 'during the course of this Parliament' (ie within 5 years but not if we have to have another election), bit more on green jobs, riaisng og the tax threshold but the Cons will hold their line on immigration.

This whole performance is not fitting for a first world country.

We need to get someone knowledgable to sort the current lot into 3 teams again.

A proper labour party, properly socialist.

A proper 3rd way collectivist liberal party

A proper libertarian tory party.

When we have these discreet teams, we can then resume the game in the old fashioned way.

The stances need to be clarified. This above everything.

So far, it appears there is greater variation within the parties than between them. rage

Murdoch funded (Con-supporting) news channel talking about Lib-Con alliance

BBC (essentially Govt funded) news channel talking about Lib-Lab alliance.

Quelle surprise.

Government is, and should remain, independent of political allegiance. Auntie Beeb is not helping herself in the long term by being quite so partisan.

Err ... no it isn't. The Conservatives have never been a libertarian party. There may be libertarian elements amongst the Conservatives, but it has never been a key part of the party's ideology. The Liberals on the other hand ...

From the points of personal and economic freedom, they are pretty libertarian compared to the social democrats (ie all of our current lot). Perhaps I could clean things up and say libertarian in practice, rather than in theory.

Smaller government, less red tape, etc, etc, etc.

You also need to clarify what you mean by liberal. There is nothing libertarian (individualist) about the current crop of collectivists. You'll see that the conservative party are rooted in classical liberalism (stuff concerning the individual liberty)

But you allready knew this.
