The commentators keep going on about a 'progressive' coalition or 'progressive' government when talking about the Lib/Lab coalition.

To me this concept of 'progressive' seems rather recessive...

It means once the Lib/Lab coalition begins, it will start slowly.

Then they will work feverishly to reform the voting system.

Government will grow in size and powers.

As the momentum gains we will have fk-all chance of ever voting them out again.

In the panic, they try to pull the plug...

They say 'Progressive' because its an agreed code word...the Peasants would become worried if they used the word it replaces...which is...

"FcensoredKITY FcensoredK FcensoredK TcensoredT WcensoredK BcensoredKS"

So;
'Progressive Government' becomes "FcensoredKITY FcensoredK FcensoredK TcensoredT WcensoredK BcensoredKS Government"

'Progressive Coalition' becomes "FcensoredKITY FcensoredK FcensoredK TcensoredT WcensoredK BcensoredKS Coalition"

And so on

Progression is moving forwards and testing the edge of the water to improve life/society/livelihood.

Progression is what brought us from the stone age to the place we are today. Progression is why conservative views always become outdated. Because ultimately the world progresses.

you mean people progress into becoming govt dependant
they progress into not bothering with working
they progress towards leaving the country because its just not worth living and employing people here.

That is trite.

There has been plenty of regression throughout history also.

'Moving forwards'? LOL.

'Progressive' really means nothing.

Look up: New Labour 'The Third Way'.

Its a crafty bullst phrase to confuse the public into thinking its the right (and only) way to do things.

There has been some blue sky thinking and someone thought outside the box.

Resulting in a nicey nicey term for socialism.

Under Labour the country's progressing its way down the toilet at the moment.

Edited because I made even less sense than normal first time round.

Progression goes hand in hand with regression.

When you progress to a place that isn't good, you regress back to where you were, before progressing in a different direction.

The world always progresses. If it didn't, we would still be living in caves, we would still be using slave labour, women wouldn't have the vote etc etc. Which infact sounds similar to the muslim world to me - an ultra conservative, completely un-progressive group of nations.

What is debatable is whether right now we have progressed to a place that isn't good and we need to regress a bit. Most agree that we have and that things need to change, but many are not prepared to regress so far back to the stage where 1% of the population own 90% of the wealth. (which is ironic because the gap is wider than ever)

Things need to be changed though. Namely the benefit state. Yes, we should be a nation with a more equal distribution of wealth, but no one should be paid for effectively withdrawing themselves from the wealth generating 'machine'.

It essentially means that the c**ts in charge haven't got the balls to stand up and admit that, other than the super-rich and the super-feckless, we're all shafted.

The world always progresses.
So why do you need a political party to expedite that process?

You seem to be implying that history is deterministic anyway?

Why?

Why should there be a more equal distrubution of wealth?

Want it? Earn it? Or Inherit it. Or steal it....don't care.
But why should it be redistributed?

Because it's fair? Tough, life isn't.

If life is fair do we all get a fit woman too?
Why isn't their an equal distribution of beautiful blonds?
