New Labour project is now dead - What next?
Discussion
Presumably Labour will re-brand to solidify it's core vote and probably try and entice dis-enfrachised Lib Dems. But of course the Unions (sorry, affiliated organisations) get a 33% say in the new leader (IIRC) so there's always going to be a pretty strong link back to pre-New Labour days (as there always was, they chose not to mention it too much!).

The concept didn't fail, just the execution.
What happens next?
Cameron will continue it.
The parties might be called labour and the conservatives but there isn't that much difference between them.
I seem to recall that phrase being trotted out during the collapse of the Soviet Union. What happens next?
Cameron will continue it.

However there are plenty of suceessful countries with left leaning governments.
There is a huge difference between New labour and communism, despite what the Daily Mail may say

After 13 years it looks like the New Labour project has totally failed. What next? Back to hard left politics?
A little harsh maybe? Given that the NL thing managed to get them elected for 13 years, that's hardly a failure though. The end results aren't exactly great and we have a long road ahead to get back to where we once were.I suspect you might be right on Labour moving more left though. Its pretty clear that the unions still have a lot of control and power within NL and I suspect they will start to play their hands. They have bank-rolled them for the last year or so and even helped them with their election campaign. So I suspect it will be back to the bad-old-days of Labour though - constant bleating on about 'the working man' and other such nonesense. Oh and lots of strikes supported by the Labour party.....
