I doubt they seriously will, easier to just up the tax and keep on paying out. Maybe if they do want to save some money, maybe start with the real stupid handouts like this old joke ?

You see, they just SAY these things so you'll vote for them. Then once you DO vote for them, they answer another question entirely when you ask why they haven't done what they promised? What they REALLY do is nothing. And they HOPE "things" will get better. Because if they do, then you'll give them the credit for it. Of course, the 50% risk is that things will get worse, in which case you'll give them the blame for it. But actually what happens to "things" is nothing to do with them. It's just an accident, really, if they happen to be empowered when it goes well or badly.

Many will not believe this.

Err, you mean in the first three days of the new government?

I doubt they are even sure whose office is whose yet.

Don't expect much to be announced before the emergency budget in a few weeks or even the Pre Budget Report/full fat budget next year.

It will have to be parity with the dollar before they start cutting.

No point Googling until they have a Budget. It's due in about 48 days.

There best be some meat in there, or people will go apes***. The time for talking is over. All that left wing redistribution of wealth needs reversing, to beneift working people, and small business. If we find out after the budget that for example, a local council cardboard cutout manager has had an above inflation pay increase, then people who voted tory this time, will NEVER vote again. The Tories will be finished, for good. The whole premise of thier vote was so they would roll back the state and balance the books, and not at the exspense of the private sector.

On another related point thats been puzzling me. labour printed enough money to fill its budget deficet, roughly £200 billion, effectively borrowing from us, to pay its own bills. What happens next time?. Where will that money come from? It is thought there wont be enough money available internationally to borrow to fill the void. They best not print any more, or there will be riots. There was more ringfencing of budgets at Clegg and camerons lovefest news conference, why arent they cutting the publice sector back, what are they waiting for?. What will actually happen next year if the money is not there to pay Charlene and Stacey to buy thier kids sausgae rolls from Greggs?.

This might be a good summary of why the Tories struggle to get a majority despite the biggest open goal ever.

I'd support scrapping the entire ludicrous tax credit regime.

Replaced with a BIG increase in the tax free personal allowance, say to £12,000.

Coupled with a modest increase in non-means tested child benefit to reflect the costs in raising kids.

Taxing with one hand and giving back with another is crazy IMO.

The Tories said they would stop child tax credits to anyone earning over £50k in their manifesto. Why anyone on an income of that sort got tax credits in the first place is beyond me.

It currently looks like anyone earning £35k+ or earns significant income that is subject to CGT is going to be screwed.

Yep, classic redistribution of wealth, child tax credits are not for children, and are not part of the tax system, even though HMRC were asked to administer them. Get f****ing rid, now, we cant afford them, and we dont want them, end of.

I think that you will be dissappointed.

Cameron has said nothing that suggests he is anything other than Blairite.

No cuts have been announced yet but be sure of one thing, they will be hitting tax credits for the better off. There is a general view that too much tax payers money has been focused on those who are already reasonably affluent.

Don't expect a huge cull of benefits for the unemployed and people on incapacity benefit. That is an issue that needs resolving properly.

What redistribution of wealth?

The biggest winners from the last 13 years have been middle class familes with kids through the tax credit system.

Explain to me exactly what wealth redistribution you are refering too?

EFA

Control in this context means the socialist redistribution of wealth to those considered needy by nanny.

The biggest LOSERS are those families you mention. Mainly by deferred taxation caused by brown-balls-campbell-mandelson borrowing money to create a paid for client state.
