Clegg on now - Great Reform Bill!!!
Discussion
ANPR is fine as it catches people who are pushing up the cost of insurance and the like on honest people as well as removing potential death traps from the road etc...
The insurance problem could be solved by using a system similar to Australia where every one has blanket 3rd Party cover but doesn't stop people driving without VED or a MOT.
Catch them, crush the car, make them get the bus.

Is that what you are saying?
ANPR allows the STATE to track you, that is the problem. History says that these powers get abused eventually.
Do agree MASSIVELY with your point about 3rd party. I live in Oz for a bit and it is a miles better system.

I am happy for ANPR as a tool for certain aspects but not as a national network to snoop.
Agree.I don't want my movements captured and stored in a national computer unless suspected of a crime.
But to me most of the proposals seem to accord with my views, so I am generally happy with it.

Sounds good so far:
No ID cards
CCTV to be regulated
Review of anti-terrorism laws and abuses thereof.
No second stage biometric passport.
DNA and child contact databases restricted.
Upper house elected by PR
Referendum on AV.
Power of recall on MPs.
It's the change of mindset that I'm liking No ID cards
CCTV to be regulated
Review of anti-terrorism laws and abuses thereof.
No second stage biometric passport.
DNA and child contact databases restricted.
Upper house elected by PR
Referendum on AV.
Power of recall on MPs.

Agreed. I am sure I heard CMD saying in one speech or other that HE/The Govt are there to serve the public and not the other way around. Which is a step in the right direction, and this bill seems to be putting his money where his mouth is (assuming my recollection is correct).
