Ruth Kelly, according to this article her and her husband bought a 1.8 million pound house but with no obvious income. How do they manage it without a tax inspection/visit from SFO? She's now just landed a job at HSBC , I thought Labour hated the banks?

Miss Kelly is well versed in banking issues, having previously served as economic secretary to the Treasury.

In this role, she implemented the Financial Services And Markets Act, which set up the regulatory system blamed by many for failing to pick up the crisis looming in the banking industry......................................so how did she get a freaking bank job then??

Saw the Labour filthbag leaving the BDO offices in London a few weeks ago, looking smug and self-satisfied. If only there was a way to penalise any company that gave these charlatans a job as we now all have to suffer the dire consequences of their individual and collective stupidity. Instead we watch them breeze in and out of lucrative jobs as if it's nothing to do with them.

Forgive me for being stupid but...... Chance to get an ex Minister for knock down money; she did after all fk up; so do you buy her or tell her to fk off? Depends on your own values which will be torn between business and shareholders/morals etc.

She gets an offer? Turn it down or tell them to fk off coz you didnt get enough out of the system?

Deal done?

Forget morals on this one folks frown

Hypocritical yes but I don't see there being an issue of where the money came from. Educated at Westminster and Oxford so her family aint short of a few bob. Moreover an MP for 13 years + a cabinet minister on 100k+ for a decade. Then we have the hubdreds of thousands in appreciation she would have gained from her London Home (partly funded by the taxpayer). And now she'll be earning big bucks in the private sector.

And google suggests her hubby does/has occupied a fairly senior post within their local authority.

Then there is the parachute payments outgoing MPs are entitled too.

Not forgetting her botched introduction of the much-needed and highly valued Home Information Packs.

Maybe through all this she's been dreaming about her former boyfriend none other than the older Microgland.

This is what riles me about Labour.

Whilst they are MPs they carp on about big business, the bonus culture and overpaying of the banks etc etc then when they leave politics go and get jobs in big business and earn the huge salaries they once criticised.

I remember when Kinnock and wife left to join the EU commission, Mrs Kinnock in an interview defended the huge salary of Kinnock by saying "if that's the rate for te job then that's the rate for the job'. This after years of criticising big business salaries.

When Tories leave parliament and go into big business there doesn't seem to be the same moral clash.

She's just following the lead set by that other great Nulabia Roman Catholic ar*ehole, the Rev.T Blair, i.e. £13 million house in Conaught square, 20 odd million offshore to avoid tax, children's Irish passports to avoid IHT etc. etc. Of course being RC means you can do what you like as long as you confess and light a few candles!! And never forget the following sung to the tune of red flag:'the working class can kiss my ar*e I've got the foreman's job at last" !!
