How much airtime is this twunt getting on the Beeb recently?
The One Show 2 days running (albeit only for 30 seconds or so last night)
BBC Breakfast 'News' this morning
Radio 5Live shortly on the Dick Pork show
Most likely more before the week is out.

I'm going to be putting in a FOI request to find out exactly how much

Andrew Rawnsley was all over the Beeb when his new book was released. I dont see what the problem is.

Edit - He is actually on Radio Five live right now talking about his new book. Tune in.

Very true but why are all his books and recent peices about how bad Gordon Brown is/was? And i would also say that he does have political affiliations just as Adam Boulton has. There is no differnce between him,Campbell,FRank Bruno or Jordan advertising there latest book.

Are people who have worked in politics barred from plugging their books?

Campbell was on Irish radio a few days ago.

Don't forget that Campbell was a journalist too.

Get over it - as they say.

Whats your point exactly? Why would another anti-Brown peice deserve anymore air-time than Alistair Campbells latest offering on every news channel if like you say - he single handedly brought the country and banks and europe and the World,Universe to its knees?

Change the record - some of us are doing ok thanks.

They're not supposed to be a free advertising service for him.

Who's country is f*cked? Do you live in a run down council estate with your GT3RS(sorry, GT2 & RS)? Oh how hard your life must have been over the last....13years. Do you not feel guilty charging around race circuits in your Porsche burning fuel while the WHOLE country is fked?

Quite. When people are pushing a product hard they splatter themselves over the media. AC is good at that and giving it his best shot in the primetime before people forget who he is and Labour have a bun fight over who gets to lead.

It's a two way deal. Celebs, writers, actors etc all want to plug something and the media need celebs, writers, actors etc on their programs.

Tell you what. If you don't like Alistair Campbell, don't buy his book. That'll teach him.

Well it is a bit ironic given that he was directly responsible for the last Beeb DG Greg Dyke leaving.

Just a week ago Campbell was on Question Time, put up by the BBC as the sole 'voice' of Labour on that particular st-shower. Now he is flogging a book about his time as the principle Labour spin-doctor and some here are trying to say that this is no different than your average D-list celebrity flogging a ghost-written autobiography just in time for xmas.
Most piss-boiling aspect of it all is the media, the very media from which he made a fortune by manipulating during his career as professional liar, is allowing themselves to be manipulated once again. This time, the reason for his appearance is 100% about his personal financial gain.
The reason for my post was to express my disapproval of the idiot media (particularly the BBC) allowing Campbell to put himself up as the representative of a political party on a TV political debate programme then one week later expect to be treated as any other minor celeb flogging a book. Putting a ban on someone who was once involved in politics plugging a book would be anti-freedom-of-speech and smells of something Labour would like to implement, I didnt mention
banning anything. Also, whether or not Campbell was once a journalist (I use the term loosely as his greatest journalistic accolade was working for the Mirror) is neither here nor there.

Sorry to sound sarcastic but maybe it was because he thought/thinks Gordon Brown was bad? He is a journalist and is entitled to criticize who he wishes. He is also entitled to plug his books on TV. To the best of my knowledge, he is not affiliated to any political party and neither is Boulton. I'd be interested in any info on this though if you have it. The only link I can see to either being in any way linked to a party is the fact that Adam Boulton is married to Anji Hunter who was Blair's Director of Government relations (aka spin-doctor) for 4 years! Kind of ironic given Campbells ridiculous accusations of him being biased towards the Conservatives don't you think?

He is doing exactly as any other celeb with a book to flog would do. And the media (be it the BBC or anyone else, such as RTE), are happy to have him on.

For my part, I find him quite entertaining - although I don't agree with about 80% of his utterances. I still don't have a problem with him turning up on radio or TV.
If I find him too irritating, guess what, I change channels.
