Has the time come for all of the UK police to be armed?

I don't really care.

What's far more important is that we should all be allowed to be armed.

Well if they had been already the 3 unarmed oficers who came face to face with that bird bloke could have stopped him. I see no valid reason why they shouldn't.

I think the police should have more protection in the form of a side arm. I fear they are of little use in an immediate crisis which requires more than a batton and cs gas.

Not quite sure why there are 3 options.

The question is absolute!

Either all the Officers should have guns, or not all the officers should have guns.

The third option (which has the most votes) is the same as option 2, since not all the officers have guns with option 3 (if that makes sense)

I know I know, I'm being pedantic! smile

When you think of people going postal, school shootings, etc, which country do you first associate it with, and are their police routinely armed?

Because it's unfair to stop me from owning what I like if I am not doing anyone any harm.

God No.

Not every police officer is competent enough to be carrying a loaded gun. God help us if that does ever happen.

Keeps the state on their toes if they know an armed uprising is possible.

The only people who can answer this are the police officers themselves.

However, I do agree as above, I'd be quite happy to be able to carry a concealed hand gun. I'd feel a lot safer in the main.

Where do you live/work/socialise?!!

As I have been to some rough places and never once felt the need to be armed!

I'm glad Joe Public can't carry a hand gun, the general public are retards.

It certainly does seem that in this case we'd be better if more police were armed... there was also a police officer that was stabbed near me a few weeks ago where I'm guessing things would have been very different if he was armed!

You'd certainly feel the need to be armed if you knew everybody else might have a gun.

Not even in America can you carry a 'Concealed' handgun.

All firearms must be visable.

That depends on state, nice generalisation though!

Exactly. I'm not sure increasing the number of guns in circulation is a good way to reduce gun crime.
