Reminds me of the 'guns' my brother and I used to make. 3/4 gas barrel with one end bashed in and, with the use of thrupenny bangers and marbles, made a terrible mess of anything contacted.

All he is doing is putting fireworks in a tube in order to aim them.

We used to use plastic drain pipes go up on the field and fire them at each other. (how I was not blinded blown to smitherenes I do not know)

When we started launching air bombs at each other it was like being in naam.

We did the same thing when we were kids and you're right, the potential for damage was pretty horrific. Never even thought about it at the time...Remember getting the wierd kid to hug a 8ft long piece of old metal drainpipe (aka mortar) then deliberately dropping the airbomb in upside down. Cue the wierd kid holding something that looked a bit like a huge exploding cigar. Thankfully still with both legs. Hell, what didn't kill us made us stronger

I built a mortar using metal down spout, sealed one end, popped a spark plug in it, petrol in, can of beans whop bloody good range too.

used it as our project to get on Scrapheap Challenge, but they must not have liked it.
