MacDill contains CENTCOM and certain special operations command infrastructure.

I saw a news report on the telly before coming to work - at least some of the weapons were AK's (don't know if they were 47's or 74's but the furniture is unmistakeable)

article said:
The pair tried to enter the base around 5 p.m. through the base’s Bayshore Boulevard gate, said Senior Airman Katherine B. Holt, a spokeswoman for the base. When they were unable to show proper identification, their vehicle was inspected and security personnel found military-style weapons and gear inside, officials said.
It doesn't look like much of a plan. hehe

They probably based their attack on screenshots from the 1950s movie "Strategic Air Command".

When asked by security what they were up to, they replied, "We were planning to attack the Boeing B-47s but we couldn't find them".

Cnn video showing what appears to be 7.62 NATO ammo and what looks like the end of a Springfield M1(M14 clone). Also looks like some Glock or M&P style mags...
