I suppose if she'd kept her gob shut and stopped pushing the officer she may not have recieved a slap.

I'm not saying it's right, but I expect the adrenalin would be pumping pretty hard when you are a single officer surrounded by a baying crowd.

I also notice that nobody stepped into assist him, he was obviously struggling and all they could do was stand around shouting and filming the whole thing with their mobile phones.

It shows what a sad world we live in really.

Sorry I fail to see what the fuss is about, person a is resisting arrest, person b steps in and physically tries to prevent person a being arrested by assaulting the policeman, person b gets a slap and person a still gets arrested, nobody will win anything from this.

Person a & b showed a complete lack of respect for the policeman, who was after all doing his job . . . . . . . had I been in that situation and armed, I'd have probably drawn my weapon and shot em hehe

Well, I am going against the consensus here then, I can see no excuse for a man punching a woman in the face like that. I have dealt with far more aggressive women than that and I didn't hit nor hurt them, yet I am not a trained police officer. Is he not meant to be able to control a situation?

I am quite amazed that a male MoP didn't step in and floor him for that.

I think it shows what a great world we live in. Whatever happened right or wrong, we have visual recording of it.
If this thing really did kick off from 'jaywalking' then it's all a bit ridiculous.

I am not. In that tense situation, if this kicked off from walking across a street when 'you are not supposed to' then who knows where it would have ended then.

Ah, you're getting your gallantry codes confused here. It's bad form to hit a lady, but it's fine to take whatever measures are necessary to control a woman (or man). A lady wouldn't have put herself in that situation to begin with.

Thats laughable, your comparison has nothing to do with the video. The woman who was hit was past the point of being talked to and was trying to help the other woman escape. The quick jab was an excellent way of removing the woman in pink from the situation. Notice how the men knew better than to step in?

He did make bit of a meal putting the woman into back hammers before he put the cuffs on but thats understandable.

Seems like the cop controlled the situation just fine. Don't resist arrest or push the cops around and you won't get punched in the face.

Keep in mind that in the US, this cop had his weapon on his hip. She easily could have tried to reach for that while pushing him around.

Also keep in mind that they were acting like a couple of ghetto queen hood rats. If you don't respect the law, don't expect the law to respect you.

Yes, and there are a number of ways to control a human being without punching them in the face. Especially a woman. The officer can step back for starters and if needs be draw and threaten the use of mace. As I said, I've controlled situations like that, and with a man and a woman both unstable and looking for a scrap.

But to punch a woman like a common thug is hardly an act befitting of a law enforcement officer. If two people acted like that in the street and a bloke punched a woman like that, he'd be facing charges IMHO. An officer is trained to deal with far worse than that.

Be VERY interested to see if any UK plod would say they would act in the same way.

The only reason the women acted like that is because they thought the police officer would have the same outdated views as you do. If he took a step back he would have to let go of the woman he was trying to arrest, who would then escape - which was their plan.

Really, no-one does anything these days, would you actually step in and punch a cop who is trying to arrest someone? No, thought not.

If anything the trend is moving towards the MoP helping the police these days!

I think lawyers prefer them to use an open palm opposed to a rather homosexual spot of windmilling.

All seemed above board to me.

Irrespective of what she did you can't behave that way with a copper and not expect a slap. I dare say it would have done her good.

Pretty lame punch though.

How come these hardmen who beat women and children never find themselves in places like Iraq or Afghanistan? Is it because they'd feel uncomfortable mixing with real men?

Utter tosh! The officer hit back because he was pushed. That's considered assault on a police officer trying to arrest someone else. The aggressive behaviour came from the two girls, and just because they have tits, camel-toes(sorry to be crude) and a big gob does not mean they have 'carte blanche' to go around assaulting police officers without serious consequences. The officer looked like he acted in self defense.
