Entente Cordiale...Chelsea Pensioners...General de Gualle...blah blah blah...

Right thats that nonsense out of the way. Has anyone seen Carla Bruni in that dress? Sweet Jesus, I would smash that until the neighbours complained about the smell. Nicolas Sarkozy must pinch himself at nights.

That is all.

Quite so. What's the point in all that power and wealth if you can't hook an A1 beauty despite looking like a strategically shaven monkey? No wonder Blair and Brown are such bitter twisted fools.

I'll look after Carla. You can have the strategically shaved monkey ( (c)Andy400) back though.

The commentary was cringworthy. All the channels appear to be fawning over it.

This is all a bit rich, given de Gaulle's post war hostility to the UK...

Having said that, he didn't want us in the Common Market, so he's something of a hero to me...RIP, Charlie Frog

Yeah he fled the front line and said some stuff about not giving in over the radio from the relative safety of the nation that he then proceeded to shaft at every given opportunity. Brave and decent man he was.

I think you might need to read a bit more history before making dozy comments like that.

Churchill had a great deal of respect for him; but then I suspect you think Churchill was just a fat alcoholic.

O.K you tell me he didn't try to stifle British influence and power from thereon in. Churchill sat down with Stalin, that must make him a nice guy too.

So the French send us over another of their vertically challenged nationalistic miniatures with a massive inferiority complex, but a good looking wife...what happened to the last one who tried to come here? 1812 say anything......?
A self-important little chump would be too polite!
As for Conky de Gaulle, he was despised by Churchill, but used as a rallying opoint for the few French who managed to escape and fight on. After the war de Gaulle was GBs greatest opponent, to ensure the "gallic sphere of influence" and Conkys personal complexes.
Just ask yourself why he was the target of over 200 assasination attempts...shows his popularity in France. Even the first european megalomaniac, the Corsican dwarf Napoleon, is more popular today in France than de Gaulle.....
