Again you need to differentiate between genuine people entitled to support and the cadgers. I am prompted to post this by seeing a PH'er we know and love on there who is fully entitled to all of the assistance she/he can get.

I think those who are 100% genuinely entitled to any form of benefit (especially those relating to sickness) are probably the silent majority when it comes to complaining about benefit cuts, similarly those who are in reciept of JSA or ESA or whatever it is called now but would rather be out working are silent.
I believe we should have some form of welfare structure but the current system is flawed, however the only solution is to remove it and start from scratch which will lead to anarchy from anyone deemed not to qualify.
We do have a system where it is possible to be born into a family whose only income is from the state, live in a reasonable house in reasonable areas, have most of the things everybody else has (mainly thanks to high priced but easily accesible credit), get a full education to the age of 19, then join the queue for handouts or develop an illness (which is easy if you sit around and do nothing) and claim incapacity benefit.
So if you simply switch off the benefit tap, millions become homeless, thousands of private landlords go bust, property prices take a hit anooying the middle classes, people go hungry, shops incomes fall so prices rise for the rest of us, but the country saves billions while having an army of starving people with no sense of value plundering whatever from wherever and no way of keeping them in check. The only way for the average man to look after his family will be buy a gun and fit shutters to his windows.
The alternative could be to take ownership of empty office buildings or apartment developments, and allow people to stay in a very basic apartment furnished with basic items and either a small tv or a radio. Give them a communal area with internet access from computers that can only visit educational or job hunting websites, meals can be served in a canteen style and the residents will be free to come and go as they please with passes for travel being allocated if they can prove a need to visit relatives or a job interview, extra credits for luxury goods such as cigarettes, alcohol or new clothes could be earned by doing jobs that keep the property functioning such as working in the kitchens, cleaning etc. Once somebody gains employment they qualify for an upgraded apartment or small house with their own kitchen etc, but for the first 5 years of their employment they are tied to paying an extra 5% tax as a goodwill gesture for being looked after by the state (this will not apply to those starting their 1st job before turning 19).
Hmm, I feel all dictatorial now.

I actually think they should lower benefits and just pay them in supermarket vouchers which need the correct ID to use and you are not able buy fags or booze. Then with the money the government saves, subsidies the lowest paid workers wages so, there is such dramatic difference between having a job and being a layabout, only the actual needy and total fI believe we should have some form of welfare structure but the current system is flawed, however the only solution is to remove it and start from scratch which will lead to anarchy from anyone deemed not to qualify.

k ups claim. It would more than likely make society a better place because today's chavs would be tomorrow's workers and they would realise stuff's actual worth.Glocko said:

Don't see what's wrong in someone not claiming what they're "entitled to" because they went out and found work instead? NIMBYheads..Generalisation matters!
