In general I would have to say that I'm actually impressed with what they have tried to acheive so far.

gree with mat205125 generally but think its a bit soon to say if it will/can work.
By that I mean the public sector unions will be doing their utmost to cause as much friction as poss ,also a few cracks showing in the Tory back benches.

There seems to be a more grown-up approach to their work than previously. I know we operate an adversarial political system here but the constant bickering that was prevalent when the previous bunch were in power seemed to overshadow the actual work they were supposed to be doing.

In fact, having a govt made up of more than one party seems to working to "keep them honest". I do like it. There's a more genteel/polite manner to their approach. Much more "British" IMO.

Also, it's refreshing to turn our backs on a number of items the old guard brought in, such as spin without substance, creeping governmental powers over the masses, and a general expansion of government.

And although there's a lot of cynicism towards Nick Clegg's intentions for repealing laws, I will become a strong supporter of his if he manages to knock-off a lot of the daft, ill-thought-out laws that Labour introduced.

I think the majority here are 'looking thru rose tinted glasses' or clearly up their own ass.

Explain please.
I'm undecided at the moment.

I've heard a lot of good things. But they haven't DONE those good things.....yet.

Experience of the last gov has taught me to wait until the politicians back up their words with actions before believing what they say.

Yeah, they're alright. The emergency budget was not bad to me, and they seem to be making steps in the right direction. They need to keep it up though, there's only so long they can blame the mess on the previous government for.
13 years - if the last dishonest, thieving, incompetant and ill-educated scum are anything to go by.

I think there's less pandering to positive headlines. This is a good thing in my opinion, but a dangerous one for the politicians come re-election time.

It's shocking reading some of the tax funded excesses from the now removed Champagne Socialists, such as the ridiculous amount of money spent scouring the press for department related articles, let's hope the new Government do not fall into the same traps.

I'd also like to know what you mean by this blunderbuss approach at either comedy or argument.

What they are saying seems to be promising, however I doubt that they have the balls to do what really needs to be done. ie crush the unions and do away with public sector waste, cut the benefits system (and simplify it)

And the other problem is that if they do what has to be done, we'll have the socialist scum back in power when all of the scorned non-jobbers vote against the current government.

They have a tough job on their hands, and I guess that the "snip away at the waste slowly" approach is the best way to go if they want to remain in government come the re-election and try to cut the waste of the previous numpties.

Quite frankly, I'd sooner have the cast of Sesame Street run the country than the last shower.

Don't mean to worry you but the deficit was bigger as a proportion of GDP under the last Tory govt.

Sticks.

Wasn't it dishonesty and incompetence of the last Tory gov which got them such a landslide in 97?
