Hillbillys to sue BP
Discussion
It's thought the term Hillbilly first appeared in print in the New York Journal. "A Hill-Billie is a free and untrammeled white citizen of Alabama, who lives in the hills, has no means to speak of, dresses as he can, talks as he pleases, drinks whiskey when he gets it, and fires off his revolver as the fancy takes him."
Well it seems these fine people have decided to sue BP for ..... well they're not sure what case they might have .... but certainly for lots of money.
“We are making this claim because we believe that BP has inflicted catastrophic harm on the state,” Attorney General Troy King told Reuters. “We are suing them for the amount it will take to make Alabama whole,” he said, declining to specify a figure for damages.
Bonkers. And what did we ever do to deserve Lynyrd Skynyrd?

"Hillbilly" has a complex historythat is for another thread. However, for this thread, Hillbillies are from Tennessee and Kentucky, and North Carolina.....not Alabama. They could pass for a Redneck. Meanwhile that nice Mr Obama is taking a swim with his kids and telling Billybob it's OK to go to the beaches because they're clean.
Crazy situation.
Apparently anyone with a commercial fishing licence can claim compensation from BP. It's said that more than 2,000 new licence applications have been received since the start of the oil spill!!

If all of Alabama were under oil, it would only do $50 worth of damage, indeed they would make a net profit out of the oil.
There is a Merc factory there. That should be worth a bit more than $50, don't ya' think?Just to be academic about the matter; here is a quick overview of Alabama's Economy:
