Bloody hell, the bankers are really up against it again. First the world's governments turn them in to the grasping bds of the financial crisis, The TUC just called them greedy and now Irish terrorists want to blow them up.

So who's going to be targeted? Is it just anyone in a building called a bank, or will it be IFAs, mortgage lenders and building societies, Indian call centers, those credit people? What about fund managers etc? Is there a hit list anywhere?

Have they run out of banks to rob in Ireland or dissenters to knee-cap?

No, they've just realised we wont buy a paper which says 'politician targeted in new terrorist shock' unless of course it gives us a number to ring and suggest which politician.
But we don't think we could do without banks?

This is about PR. Let's bomb the banks and get the unwashed onside.

The targets will be whatever causes maximum disruption to the turnover of millions in cash, so paralysing City of London/Canary Wharf etc through whatever means. The reason for targeting "London Bankers" is because of the phone calls they will make to Cameron, the day after any disruption, complaining about the loss of billions in turn-over and ordering him to make it stop even if it means negotiating with RIRA.

The death or maiming of a few bankers would be a happy coincidence, rather than the main aim, which is to stop their money swilling activities for a short period.

Anyway, it's unlikely that they have the ability/infrastructure, to hit these targets.

the death or maining is not a happy coincidence, they are looking for at least one kill to make their point heard.

I think this is PR stunt from a very small group of nutters who want to remind us they are still here. And of course theres bugger all else in the news. Anything I've read suggests they have little resources and little support now. Almost 15 years since they stopped operations? I cant really see them kicking off over here again unless things go very very wrong. I do think (hope) this is confined to the history books. It is quite amusing that bankers are getting threats from them though. Is it just London bankers? What about the bankers in Leeds, Edinburgh, Jersey? smile

Hmmm. Personally, were I a terrorist of whatever kidney, I would be very cautious indeed about threatening bankers - or indeed any group of extremely rich, extremely powerful people with excellent connections.

I can just imagine quiet phonecalls being made to certain private security firms leading to some midnight abductions from remote Irish farmhouses, followed by a curious cessation of RIRA activities, and some years later by the curious discovery of several sets of human remains in a slurry pit.

Or have I been reading too many Frederick Forsyth novels?

eh yea smile Its an intriguing plot and I can see a film with Matt Damon in it. But no it wont happen in real life. These bankers are blokes called Tarquin and Sebastien, they live in Putney, row on Sunday and ponce off to the Costwolds with Penelopes.

plus they are more likely to just make all the money the RIRA have disappear and bankrupt them, much more effective smile

bit like the bankers in the wild geese.

So, if and when the first bomb goes off at Canary Wharf, I presume that we will be committing 1000's of troops to NI to root out these terrorists?
No doubt the Americans will be sending a few divisions and unleashing some cruise missiles and B52's for a bit of Shock & Awe in Belfast.

Or won't the War On Terror count if they are white people who look like us? rolleyes

Yep, you're right. You can see them in Stroud Farmer's Market every Saturday, dressed up in their finest Musto country gear, braying to each other in loud voices whilst young Harry and Jocasta run about the place getting in the way as I try to buy a decent bit of cheese from Melissa's stall.
