For some reason, in this photo, Dinnerjacket looks like a sickly version of Robert DeNiro:

Apparently Iran is a "Big Power"

Economic Power?
Industrial Power?
Military Power?

It's not even a good score in Scrabble!

Iran has over half the oil reserves of leader Saudi Arabia!

Most oil producers overestimate for obvious reasons, so let's see the PROVEN truth.

Correct, there is no oil, BUT it's oil connected. Isn't it always?

The idea back in 2001 when we invaded (the concensus was it wouldn't take long rolleyes) was to build a oil/gas pipeline via the Caspian Sea THROUGH Afghanistan.

Why the hell do you think Hamid Karzai was elected as New Afghan Leader? It former job was, wait for it...
a Unocal Oil Energy Consultant. Well, there's a surprise eh?
The oil/gas pipeline through Afghanistan to Pakistan has not happened. So why are we still there?

Frightened to death that some other country, could be the Russians or China or who knows, will get this energy.

Proven reserves doesn't mean all that is there, it means what is there and proven, which I is generally what is already being exploited, hence have been measured. I believe Alaska has vast estimated reserves that are not yet proven.

If any oil folk want to correct or add to this feel free.

I think quite a large proportion of the reserve in Canada is in the form of oil shale, and quite difficult/damaging to the environment to exploit.

Alaska has enough oil reserves to keep the US going (and expanding it's use at their current rate) for 200+ years according to a family member in the oil business. Obviously it makes sense to use everybody elses up first hehe
