That and would seem to get along well with a rare few PH tinhatters regarding 9/11 conspiracies.

This thread title is retarded - he didn't say it again, and actually made some reasonable points...http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100923/ap_on_re_us/un...
"He said the U.S. used the attacks as a pretext to invade Afghanistan and Iraq that led to the killing of hundreds of thousands of people, saying the U.S. should have "designed a logical plan" to punish the perpetrators while not sheding so much blood."

I'd like to see the translation. I very much doubt he "called for the destruction" of Israel. Like the "wiped from the face of the earth" quote, or the "we don't have homosexuals in Iran" quote, it sounds very much like a mistranslation. Dinner jacket wouldn't be THAT stupid to say that in front of the UN.
As for the conspiracy nonsense. Well, he might be a nutjob, but he is right... There are 3 theories going around. Whether you believe the last 2 is entirely dependent on whether you are a nutjob or not, but technically he is right.
I've looked on various news articles, and haven't found any other references to destroying israel.

UNITED NATIONS— The US delegation walked out of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's Thursday speech to the UN General Assembly after he said some in the world have speculated that the Americans were actually behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks, staged in an attempt to assure Israel's survival.
Some of the world HAVE speculated this, including many Americans... Whether it is right or not is another matter.Article said:
Ahmadinejad criticized the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan which he said had killed more than a hundred thousand people while the Sept. 11 attacks reportedly were responsible for the deaths of only 3000.
He has a point...Article said:
The Iranian leader spoke of threats to burn the Koran by US religious groups, calling that an act of "evil." He held up a copy of the Muslim holy book, saying "the truth cannot be burned."
I don;t know about evil, but it is rather petty, and a book is just a book... The ideas inside it will not be destroyed by burning a few copiesArticle said:
The Iranian president went on to attack Israel, stating that the "horrible crimes" of the "Zionist Regime" are largely responsible for the world's woes.
I think the Middle East is a hotbed for current issues. The Israel/Palastine issue is central to that. hardly a stretch of imagination. It's an exaggerated point, I'll grant.Article said:
He spoke specifically about the May 31 Israeli raid of the Gaza-bound flotilla ship the Mavi Marmara, calling it a "blatant defiance of international law."

Ahmadinejad spoke about nuclear energy as a "heavenly gift" that could potentially end the world's dependence on fossil fuels which are harmful to the environment.
It'll help... No more coal powered stations.Article said:
Some members of the Security Council have "equated nuclear energy with nuclear bombs," Ahmadinejad said.
I happen to agree with him. Article said:
He accused the United States of building up its nuclear arsenal instead of dismantling it and reiterated his call for a nuclear-free world.
I don;t know if the US has increased. I'm inclined to think not. But for a country with THAT many nuclear weapons, and nuclear power stations of it;s own, it does seem a little rich.Article said:
"The nuclear bomb is the worst inhumane weapon and which must totally be eliminated. The NPT (Nonproliferation Treaty) prohibits its development and stockpiling and calls for nuclear disarmament," the Iranian president said.
He is right. Iran is a signatory, and oddly enough, Israel is not.Article said:
Mark Kornblau, spokesman of the US Mission to the UN, issued a statement within moments of Ahmadinejad's speech.
"Rather than representing the aspirations and goodwill of the Iranian people," he said, "Mr. Ahmadinejad has yet again chosen to spout vile conspiracy theories and anti-Semitic slurs that are as abhorrent and delusional as they are predictable."
As opposed to "Axis of evil" speeches, and "you're either with us, or against us" speeches? "Rather than representing the aspirations and goodwill of the Iranian people," he said, "Mr. Ahmadinejad has yet again chosen to spout vile conspiracy theories and anti-Semitic slurs that are as abhorrent and delusional as they are predictable."

Let me help you:"The U.S. delegation walked out of the U.N. speech of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday after he said some in the world have speculated that Americans were behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks, staged in an attempt to assure Israel's survival.
He did not explain the logic of that statement that was made as he attacked the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ahmadinejad has called for the destruction of Israel and is deeply at odds with the United States and European allies over its nuclear program and suspicions that it is designed to produce an atomic bomb. Iran says it is only working on technology for electricity generation."
The use of the word 'has' means previously, especially in the contect of the article. No where in the article does it say that he repeated this at the UN.
The west's reaction to Dinnerjacket's calls for Israel to be 'wiped from the face of the Earth' are also pretty good indicators that they really don't understand the psychology and culture of the region at all - which goes a long way to explain their problems in Iraq and Afghanistan, where we've been getting trounced by the locals for a couple of hundred years.
Given Iran's history, it's hardly surprising that they have a deep mistrust and hatred of both the US and the UK, we've been dicking about trying to subvert their governments for donkey's years - witness the Great Game malarkey, the tobacco protests of 1890, the various involvements through the '30s, the west's engineering of the 1953 coup, the CIA's installation into power of Saddam and their subsequent support for him in the Iran/Iraq war and so on and on.
I'm no fan of Dinnerjacket, but anyone who feels the region's countries don't have some legitimate grievances against the west obviously hasn't studied their history books...

Dinnerjacket is an idiot...and a dangerous idiot at that. The only saving grace is that the people of Iran hate him more than the west do. They'd definitely like to see the back of the unstable maniac.
I like him. Entertaining!! And where are the anti-semitic slurs the UN guy is on about??

I'd agree with that.. i've spoken to a few iranian friends about him and they say the majority of the Iranian public do hate his guts, the only thing they like about him is that he doesn't bow down to US pressure, which they love about himStating that the Americans were themselves responsible for 9/11 is just a theory and one that I think is pretty unlikely and in poor taste however he's entitled to his opinion.
Another theory in 2003/2004 was that Saddam was responsible for 9/11 - something else which I thought at the time was a tad far fetched but that didn't stop the Americans pushing it because it fitted in with their own political aspirations.
One is termed a 'conspiracy' theory whilst the other is 'oh sorry we got it wrong'.

Perhaps if he played ball then they would be best friends and we would all live happily ever after. Blue Meanie said:
Said the usual things
BM, he said the majority of Americans and the world believe the 9/11 conspiracies, that is simply false. When are the usual suspects going to learn that the Israel /Palestinian issue is simply an excuse for other's agendas? The "brother nations" could have long ago better assisted these people with land and money but refuse to do either. Having them right where they are serves their purpose.
The fact that he is allowed to come to a place and spout off "Zionist regime" and other inflammatory spews is ironic as most who try to speak against his regime in Iran have been outlawed, jailed, or made to vanish.

I think you are correct in many ways. I have always said, and continue to say, that the Iranian people should be allowed to remove Dinnerjacket. They are tiring of him, and the real power behind him, very rapidly. He simply needs to be contained, but the job needs to be done by the people IMO.Given Iran's history, it's hardly surprising that they have a deep mistrust and hatred of both the US and the UK, we've been dicking about trying to subvert their governments for donkey's years - witness the Great Game malarkey, the tobacco protests of 1890, the various involvements through the '30s, the west's engineering of the 1953 coup, the CIA's installation into power of Saddam and their subsequent support for him in the Iran/Iraq war and so on and on.

The Brother nations... What "purpose" is that then? What exactly ismincorrect about "Zionistic regime"? What other inflammatory spews were there?
