Is there actually anything good about the BBC?

They appear to be even more wasteful than the NHS, which I never even thought was possible confused

You're on very shaky ground if you start messing with redundancy packages, because one day that might filter down to the rest of us...

The article said:
As well as being paid his salary of £435,000 a year until he leaves in 2011, Mr Byford is expected to receive redundancy of between £800,000 and £900,000.

The 52 year-old has a £3.7 million pension pot within the BBC scheme...

He is getting the normal redundancy terms for someone that has completed 32 years service. Do you really think it is wrong that the Deputy of one of the world's largest media companies earns £471000? Seems like a lot of jealous people on this forum.

Yes I do, if the BBC was standing on its own feet and not relying on the telly tax and a subsidy to bankroll it, there would be no arguments from me.

Maybe his salary and pension should be based on performance,

Completely agree, it's why i have little sympathy for public sector having their pensions cut.

How would you define performance in a public body like the BBC?
