He'd probably heard that the Maldives are about to sink beneath the waves due to nasty infidels driving SUVs/Global Warming/Climate Chaos etc etc.

Or instead of being gullible, he could just be nasty.

Indeed, that is nasty...

But.....

Just like with 'Japanese' Tattoos, etc..... make sure you understand what you're getting wink It's kind of their own fault.

That article made me chuckle. It is indeed like those "fried rice" tattoos that seem so popular amongst you honkies. wink

When we had to babysit some guinea pigs, they came up to me in an inquisitive manner when I crouched down so I started saying in that childish voice you tend to put on, "I bet you'd both taste really nice roasted with chips and peas. Wouldn't you like to hop into my oven, you cutey wutey furry things?" biggrin

It's true, there was a Swedish girl at uni and she was proudly displaying her new tatoo meaning "peace" until one of the Chinese exchange students asked "Why you have 'bucket' written on your shoulder?" rofl

P.S The insults are not unique to places like this, I remember that when I lived in France some ahole was insulting me to my face thinking he was clever (using french slang) but did not realise I understood what he was saying rolleyes The lesson in international diplomacy shortly after should make him think twice in future hehe

Yep. Although possibly not if you'd spent £loads on the same ceremony.

If you're vacuous enough to go to a foreign country, to a cultlure you have little real interest in, and have your vows read in a language you have not even bothered to learn....

Caveat emptor.

Better to get married on a beach than to get pissed on over here.

I only know one couple who got married abroad and one of the principal reasons for so doing was to ensure members of his family (who were rough as fk and likely to turn the event into a Pikey wedding) were 'unable' to attend. biggrin

They wernt gettin married.
They were "Renewing their vows"
A hallmark ceremony if their ever was one.

I agree with caveat emptor.

There are some phrases that, when I hear them, my brain fires off an involuntary, reflexive 'answer'.

The 'answer' for "Alien abduction" is "anal probe". (Goggle the phrase and South Park for best explanation.)

The 'answer' for "Renewing vows" is "one (or both) of us was screwing around and promises not to do it anymore, Honest."

Yup, its either that or come across as the kind of vapid who would desire such a silly ceremony.
