.. for a change, so i'll start one.

I can't find any links to the start time of said dispute. 9pm was mentioned yesterday, now it appears to be 7pm - does anyone know?

It has ruined my plans to go to Canary Wharf for a few drinks. frown

Dixie, out of interest what is the general consensus of the other workers (those not striking) regarding these strikes?

How difficult would it be to tell the strikers not to bother returning to work and simply employ someone else?

You know those people in Underground uniform that stand by the barriers or aimlessly wander around doing not much? Not surprisingly it's them that they are getting rid of - and it's going to happen by natural wastage anyway. So, we couldn't give a monkeys wink Those engineers that are striking are the ones silly enough to be in the RMT. Those of us who negotiate our own pay deals amicably with management don't see a need to keep Crow in burgers so don't join the RMT/TSSA to give him our money.
Despite what the unions would have you believe there are far more of us not in unions and who don't strike at the drop of a hat - in fact I don't personally know a single rail worker who has gone on strike. It's going to be a mare to get anywhere in London tomorrow but we have a good relationship with our senior management, (for the above reasons), so they're flexible with us.

ETA: we think they're cutting off their noses to spite their face. Tits. biggrin

Most of Zone 1 with the exception of the Circle and Piccadilly lines are still running tomorrow I think??

How busy they will be is a different matter...

As I understand it this strike has more to do with the loss of up to 800 RMT memberships rather than the loss of jobs, none of which will be compulsory.

BTW, can I claim back anything on my season ticket for these strikes?

most of the major lines have no details of their plans to close:

London bridge, clapham stations and canary wharf not closed so will find out tomorrow morning, zone 1 is working but nothing about other zones not running reduced tube lines...

How can they do this every 6 weeks and then ps off the public and think they will be behind them... err no!!

It does seem odd that an engineer, who by their nature is an educated person, would join the RMT which is really just the remnants of the British Communist Party and a political activist organisation.

I've also never understood why some lines such as the Met line and Jubilee never seem to be all that effected versus others. Are some lines more affiliated to Crow than others?

Final question: The Met line allways grinds to a halt for 10 mins around 10am every morning with the excuse of backed up trains or a signal issue etc. Is my theory correct that is is actually that the bloke in charge likes to have his morning dump at this time and so the line has to stop while he's pre-occupied? biggrin

I did think the strike was today anyway so didn't bother going in to London. I'm guessing from this thread that it is actually tomorrow!!! rofl

So did this affect anyone? I was working at West Ham today, arriving at Waterloo in the morning then Jubilee Line to West Ham, a short visit to Stratford, back to West Ham and then finishing off by going to Waterloo for the train home. The only problem I had was a ten minute wait at Stratford, so no big deal.

That seems odd to me. Why are they able to get out of not paying refunds?
