I think this guy knows where the bodies are buried, surprised the Russians didn't try and get rid of him in Thailand.

Could make for a very interesting court case.

On a somewhat related note - I didn't realise the trial of one of Bout's previous clients, former psychotic President of Liberia Charles Taylor, is still going on. They indicted him in March 2003 and a verdict is expected at some point in 2011, by which time he could well be dead from a heart condition he has developed. Apparently the wheels of justice turn very slowly when you are accused of crimes against humanity ..

When I was in Sierra Leone it was unbelivable the devestation caused by the civil war , all arms supplied by Bout

He is still very well connected politically in Russia. The court case will be very interesting indeed; I wonder what spoiling tactics Russia can still try?
It is alledged Bout used to source many weapons through contacts in Tiraspol. If this comes out, the EU may have to do something about Moldova's very difficult situation, rather than just ignore it.

Has Bout committed crimes on American soil? I feel uncomfortable with the US grabbing people from all over, including the UK.

There are those who would say that he has made an enemy of the US by poaching business from them, especially in Africa.

America looking after its interests
abroad perhaps. scratchchin

The History about Bout is very interesting , hes been on the wanted list by the UN although flew for them , wanted by the US , yet flew arms and supplies for them into Kuwait in the first Gulf war, wanted by MI5 , yet flew similar supplies supporting the Coalition , this did not impress MI5 at all!.

As for the sting , he's admitted intending to supply arms to the columbians with the intent of harming americans , hes a double edged sword a political pawn who's made a vast empire funded from the soviet collapse and now caught expect an example will be made , Certainly if he had remained in Russia he would have remaine untouchable .

What is undesputed is he supplied Arms to the African warlords in the case of Sierra Leone , arms against the UN forces ( 17,000 ) many of which were British troops .

Having seen first hand the devestation in Sierra Leone I have no sympathy
