What a grim place...
Been there, done that as a nervous 17yo in the coastguard off Fleetwood.
Wait deep in waders, searching for a guy that had loaded up his clothes with all worktools, tied the arms off so they wouldnt escape then walked into the sea. We were looking for him being caught up in the lines.
It wasnt fun.

Did you get any good tools?Wait deep in waders, searching for a guy that had loaded up his clothes with all worktools, tied the arms off so they wouldnt escape then walked into the sea. We were looking for him being caught up in the lines.

Seriously, sounds grim.
Much to my considerable relief we didnt find him.
He washed up a few days later a bit along the coast.
There is nothing macho or "hard" about doing that sort of thing, its just simply not nice. The old guys didnt like doing it, you were stuck in this wierd place between wanting to find the guy and not wanting to find him. No desire to ever repeat the experience, it gave me the right heebeegeebees and I dont give a monkeys if that makes me a wimp.

40 bodies at £500 a pop + a few quid to view is £20,000.
You wouldn't catch me sifting through dead bodies for £20,000.
I imagine you end up pretty immune to anything.
20k is worth a hell of a lot more over there than it is here.... You might be able to force yourself if you were in his shoes! You wouldn't catch me sifting through dead bodies for £20,000.

Well, I guess he has found a niche job and I think that sounds like quite a good income for a poor person in China. I mean, a mate of mine went out there a few years ago setting up some factory or other, and the locals went home at night - which was the back of a lorry parked in the car park. About 30 of them, as they couldn't afford to travel to their local villages etc.... I think they made something stupid like $10 a month (the figures escape me right now but frankly I was shocked - oh, and they were really badly treated as well by the senior staff etc).
Plus I was told (probably a myth) that in fresh water as you swell up, the skin becomes thin and easier for the little fishes to tug at.

True, and if you are found and the person that tries to lift you out the water is not careful
they can peel your skin off very easily.
