Bloody impressive - I just hope they got the right building and not a school or similar!

The Teletubbies in that building had no idea what was about to happen.....

A very impressive demonstration of technology. Although IMHO we shouldn't be blowing anybody up in Afghanistan, as we have no right to be there and seem to be creating problems than we are solving . . . . . .

We have the right to be anywhere we want to be. Whether we have the ability to be there is a different question.

A Soverign nation can invade where the hell it wants. Going home with your tail between your legs or not is what usually determines whether it was "right" or "wrong", not some international law waffle.

So an American aircraft, operated from an American base, in America, guided using American satellites, fired an American missile at an American enemy and the Brit got to move the joystick?

Is that what happened?

yeah. None of the Americans could work out how to use it.

Not as many as we'd have saved if we'd kept out of there however.

I agree (and indeed other countries). However the lying bas***d scumbag who used to run this country decided to throw lives away, this at least makes up for it a little.

Military or civilian?

Truth is, we'll never know how many lives have been saved or lost as a result of these Middle East conflicts.

No, it was "controlled" by a British JTAC, he would have identified the target and got autorisation locally to engage it.

Well described in Firestrike 7/9, may well be the same incident.

Cheers,

FT.
Good link. Kudos to all JTACs.

Turns out I'm probably wrong though! I should have read the link properly...

I'd say we (the west) have every right to be there. The country under the Taliban regime allowed Bin Laden and his associates to freely train, plan and develop worldwide terrorist outrages, culminating in 9/11.

They, the Taliban, also brought the worlds attention to their domestic policies and theories when they started to destroy "world heritage" sites that differed from their own skewed religious beliefs as well as treating the general populace in a manner that would have been considered extreme in medieval Europe.

If we (the west) hadn't been distracted, by George W and Blair and their ill thought through Iraq campaign, then we, and the population of Afghanistan, might be in a far better position.

We need to stay now, until it is settled. That is the least we can do.

All equally IMHO of course.
