A Czech Jew who escaped prison to fight in the RAF dies. Once again, I bet this fellow gets almost no mention up against celebrity rehab/reality cr@p:

You're asking a lot of possibly the only NPE forum in the world that made not one comment on or mention of the release of Aung San Suu Kyi.

He wasn't alone. Many people in similar circumstances did the same, and got little recognition. People are doing the same now. Good to have a reminder of what people do to support their beliefs.

It's the old question....Do the Media give us what we want? Or do they give us what they want? Sadly I think it is the latter,

At the moment, hundreds of WW2 weterans are dying every year. Obviously, this is because the demographic of World War 2 participamts means that most are in their mid to late 80s and early 90s. The media couldn't really keep up if it had to run a report on every veteran who dies. To be fair to the UK media, most of the British broadsheet newspapers run good obituary columns and the passing of these chaps (and ladies) does get noted in sometimes lengthy obituaries.

"Flypast" magazine in the UK runs a monthly listing (called "We Salute You") of those airmen of all sides who have died in the past month. It is curently listing 20 to 30 names each month.

Thanks for that. I hope more people will take time to read such publications or promote them. smile
