Just been perusing said country, and in particular Pyongyang in my lunchtime on Google maps.
When you zoom in, you cant help but notice that the rooves of a lot of buildings are painted quite a bright blue.
Anyone know why? Are they government buildings of a particular sort?

Thanks for the offer, but it doesn't actually help at all, (hence the topic).

Blue is a calming color, designed to lull bomber pilots to sleep.

Well, on the basis of this stunning bit of footage (just tried it on the Apple TV - flawless)...I don't think we've got much to worry about North Korea:

North Korea - Hell March

The more observant of you will notice three things -

1) The North Korean Military move really, really slowly.

2) They are obsessed with the goose-step, looking to the right, and saluting.

3) The right-facing, goose-stepping ones don't seem at all phased by massed ranks of blokes in suits waving huge pink flowers at them.

So, the master plan for the subjugation of North Korea would appear to be to play Ramstein...really loud...and have a huge hologram of the Dear Leader displayed behind the forward deployment positions of the NK armour, artillery and infantry. Whilst the bemused NK lads and lasses form up for a march-past, the South Korean infantry don natty suits and walk boldly up to the NK lines, waving huge pink flowers....until they get within small arms range of the massed ranks of the NK military, who are looking the other way and goose-stepping/trundling armour really, really slowly....and which point South Koreans shoot them all.

Problem solved.

You have to get them in the right-facing mood first, otherwise it turns into a fuster-cluck of biblical proportions - hence the music, and the hologram.

I found AN answer in about the same time, then about 3 or 4 more with equal validity fairly soon after, but nothing definitive.

This link has some possible reasons, apparently they're common in China too.
