Is it me, or is the overuse by politicians of the word "fair" becoming a bit irritating. It seems that everything they do requires that we are told how equitable it is.

What is this sudden obsession with wanting to be thought of as fair?

Especially when they don't define what they mean by "fair" in the first place.

No, it's not you. Not so long ago the word of choice was, erm, 'choice' IIRC.

Indeed, the Labour scum used "Right" a lot i.e. it's Right that we do this that and the other. It seems the ConLib lot want to use fair.

"Fair" is fine by me. You work harder, you get more money, you have a bigger house, you can afford to have more children. That's pretty fair to me. Not what they mean? biggrin

FFS it's called life. Some people are lucky, others aren't. Tough st. If it were really fair, all the wealth would be spread across the world equally and even the poorest orphan in India would get an equal cut... but everyone would have about £5 and we'd be screwed in this country because everything is more expensive, which would push the economy down and who knows what state this country would be in if everything were truly fair.

Slightly off topic, I hear Gordon Clown was due in London today, but he's snowed in north of the boarder. Yesssss!

I heard Gordon Brown has been to the fair. He won a goldfish, but sold it for less than he spent.

Fair is a term they seem to use when they cannot explain or justify what they have done or are about to do.

It gets on my nerves.

I just wish they would say why they are doing things rather than hiding behind the word Fair.

It grips my ring slightly less than "the right thing to do".

The use of the word "fair" is used to try to convince people what they are doing is reasonable and equitable.

Which of course it isn't.

It is no doubt the word of choice due to its number of syllables and the target audience.

When someone has to tell you something is fair, it's a good indication that it's anything but.

'Fairness' is a socialist term which means those who do well/work hard lose what they've earned, and those who do less well or sponge do not see any tangible difference to their lives as a result of the former's loss!

For me it's 'there are lessons to be learned' from the latest total fk up.
I don't want government ministers who need to learn FFS I want ones who know what they are doing.
