Why dial 999, the Fire and rescue service could do less than the general public as they would have to bring a boat due to procedures etc, there is another thread on SP&L are the police trained to deal with this sort of thing.

Why the hell should anyone put themselves at risk for a stupid **** who got themselves into a wholly avoidable situation for a dog. Luckily numpty no 2 didn't fall through the ice as well rolleyes.

According to other articles she's fighting for her life, more like wasting finite resources to me frown

Quite true. And so we should disband mountain rescue and the RNLI, after all, you've got to be a stupid **** to get stuck up a mountain etc or trapped at sea, both wholly avoidable situations........

What was stupid was them walking the dog across the ice in the first place.

Not sure why she bothered to rescue the lab - mine gets into all sorts of places he shouldn't and the just scrambles back out as if nothing had happened. For real emergencies I carry a treat in my pocket - as soon as I unwrap it, no matter how stuck he looks or what the obstacles are, he suddenly develops the ability to pass over them as if they are not there and appear at my side! smile

I see another one didn't learn confused if you read some of the comments as to why they keep publishing stories like that it seems they hope to get through to one or 2 Darwin award nominee's before they become another statistic.
Looking at a picture in another paper quite a serious amount or resources went into another totally preventable 'accident'.

As regards the RNLI comment from Jas i was up there earlier this year and it's seems unbelievable how many times the lifeboat goes out for complete bellends who ignore all the tidal warnings, they need to be charged a lifeboat call out charge for being so arrogant/dumb or thick ?. http://www.seahouseslifeboat.org.uk/Pages/2010.htm

Before it all kicks off about hill walking, rugby etc there is some risk but not plain stupidity like the above ?

I thought many on Ph's were up for the Darwinism theory tongue out
