This thread is a bit quiet.

Where are all the Chaytor 'bloody champagne socialist, throw away the key' protagonists?

Surely not because this one's a Tory?

As to what he'll get? No idea, but deserves all he gets imo.

As 'ordinary' rolleyes untitled Mr John Taylor, he was the black Tory MP in the early 90s for Cheltenham who lost disastrously in the General Election to the LibDems, when there was all that talk about 'safe Tory seats' and 'race' argument.

Then he became a peer later in the 90s, the first black peer.

Now probably gonna get another title...
he's had MP, he might be able to put a H in front, like Labour's Chaytor.

"The only real issue in this case is Lord Taylor's state of mind when he submitted these forms."

Oh, give me strength!! Yeah, it was in 'FIDDLE MODE'!

Take him down.

Well, Champagne Tory is a bit of a tautology, isn't it?

He was famously never an MP for Cheltenham, only the candidate. Charles Irving was the previous Tory MP.

He should go down just as the Labour thieves should go down.

Is the repugnant parasite Baroness Uddin being prosecuted?

Any MP or Lord (or anyone else, for that matter) who is found guilty of fraud should be punished IMO and I care not what their political colour. I would hope most law-abiding citizens would feel the same.

not least that like the huge majority of us they would lose their job, not have it kept open if the sentence is less than 12 months. i think that's the worst part, they get banged up and paid at the same time, with our flipping money, they have already been convicted, yet it seems they get away with another con whilst inside, sorry but i find it disgraceful.

I am inclined to agree. As a "higher" position of Govt than the MPs, he should get a higher sentence....

He's obviously banking on the sentencing judge differentiating between recovery of expenses resulting from a position in employment and that of a volunteer.

Is one worse than the other? I suppose in terms of offset in arriving at a sentence one can be shown to have given freely of their time and the other not.

Also one loses their earning potential from being banged up and the other doesn't.

There is no difference in the act itself theft is theft but I'll bet the equitable sentance is not necessarily deemed an equal one.

He's going to get a harsher sentence for pleading not guilty is he not?

Aren't they planning to legislate on removing titles etc. And making it retrospective so Archer could get it yet.
