RBS Boss said bankers are overpaid!
Discussion
Last night on National News, he said that a few star bankers that really do move markets are paid well for a good job done whilst those other bankers down the food chain perform less well and are overpaid. Now he didn't use those actual words but I guess you can see the clip on BBC News. Can only assume the Government has got to him, or maybe he is retiring this week, or he has seen the light. Maybe all three.
So late in the day I expected somebody else to have posted this little snippet of news.

Gutted that I have to bump my own post.
Can you not hear the PH broom sweeping it under the carpet....sweep sweep? On a similar note, have you noticed how anything written in the press or media about the whole banking/credit crunch/deficit issue nearly always puts the boot into the heads of banking institutions BUT according to the investment gurus on here they are all wrong/socialists/commies/marxists/troublemakers/ignorant/deluded (edit as appropriate). Surely they all can't be wrong....
well since he got an answer on the other thread why does he need the same answer twice?
Here it is:
Appointed to the Board as Deputy Chairman on 19 January 2009, and to the position of Chairman on 3 February 2009.
Previously, he was Chairman of J Sainsbury plc, group finance director of Lloyds TSB Group plc from 2002 to 2004, group finance director of BT Group plc from 2000 to 2002, group finance director of BG Group plc from 1997 to 2000, group finance director of British Gas plc from 1995 to 1997, group finance director of British Steel plc from 1990 to 1995, an executive director of Lazards from 1981 to 1990 and a non-executive director of RMC Group plc from 2002 to 2005.
Philip is the former chairman of UK Financial Investments Limited, the company established to manage the UK Government's shareholding in banks subscribing to its recapitalisation fund, and has also been a non-executive director of Belgacom SA (the Belgian telecom group) since 2004. Philip joined the Board of Anglo American plc as a non-executive director in November 2009.
To quote another PHER...
In other words, he has switched from UKFI which is the Govt's quango for managing RBS/HBOS/NR (supposedly at arm's length) to an actual Board position at RBS, or in clearer words he ultimately works for the government and has to toe the line.
Does that make it better for you now you have a reply?

I didn't ask for the blokes C.V and still waiting to hear an answer that has some degree of relevance, if that's possible from posters here? You think he works for the Government, well he must do because it fits your relevance of previous posts I expect. Here it is:

If you never, in your working life, sat next to someone who you knew was being being over paid then it was you. So late in the day I expected somebody else to have posted this little snippet of news.

Almost all the people who post on PH during working hours are overpaid for starters.
There isn't a business on this planet which doesn't contain overpaid members of staff and members of staff worth every single penny you pay them.
The trouble lies in weeding out the weak without falling foul of discrimination laws etc.

This is why China etc will always be more productive than the failed state that is the UK.We have paid tens of thousands of pounds to remove dross from the payroll through compromise agreements and have had over a hundred thousand taken from us because of discrimination issues etc. Its all economic fiscal stimulus in the end, but its a severe mis-allocation of capital.
In all cases we would have sacked the staff if we could, but had to go through utter and total waste of funds due to the communist employment laws in this failed state. The sooner they are axed the better.
