A Range Rover Freelander, is that what the early one's were called, mmmmmmm. Anyhow those old ones were sh!t3 nothing like the latest model but they must of hit that hole at speed to flip it.

They must have been SPEEDING for that to happen!

By the way, will resurfacing a road make THAT much of a differnce? Yes it means that there will be no break in the surface and harder for the same pothole to reappear but surely potholes all appeared originally from a decent surface - so wont you just end up with potholes re-appearing eventually from a newly surfaced road - albeit it may take longer - but how much longer?

Its a cost benefot exercise I spose.

If I were the local council, I would close the road, get a FreeLander, and just see how stupid you would have to drive to flip over because of that hole.

Oddly enough, I came across that, and stopped to make sure they were OK. The mother said it happened when she had to swerve to avoid the pothole, so I'd put it down to crap driving rather than crap roads - oddly enough the 911 I was driving neither went into the pothole, nor flipped itself magically over.

The Freelander was never a RR, is not a 4x4 (it's AWD not 4WD) and was a pile of poo not to be confused with a proper LR. It was such a pile of poo that here in the USA the Freelander name was dropped altogether and the current model is called an LR2.

"John Skidmore, head of Streetscene Services" - Excellent choice of name! (or choice of profession I suppose)

Beat me to it cos I had the tab open for ages while doing something else mad

Anyway, why are the Mail quoting the Daily Express? Are they just getting their news from other papers now?

Define decent, we make our roads of the cheapest stuff possible meaning they are completely unable to handle the cold unlike continental roads

Irrespective of how good or bad the car is - potholes simply do not put vehicles on their roof.

Utter bullst and, I would wager, a measure to get the council to meet the cost of the vehicle.

The Mail really are a bunch of fking simpletons - I think I'll pop down the the newsroom tomorrow and see how many magic beans and bottles of snake oil I can shift.

If they had been in a car instead it probably wouldn't have rolled over.

Well, poster above said it was caused by them swerving. Myabe he should have a word with the council to stop them paying out for the car!

Must have been a bad crash to do that to someone's face, they should put a claim in.
