On one side sounds like a good idea, reducing energy wink, carbon footprint laugh etc.(Supposed to be trendy all that at the minute).

On the the other side I can't help feeling a bit uncomfortable about it. I don't know why, I can't explain it.

I wouldn't feel comfortable swimming in a pool knowing it was being powered by dead bodies.

Sounds like a sensible idea, however it now looks like its been hijacked for political purposes by the unelected scum that is Unison

I wouldn't mind at all, either swimming in the pool or being the fuel. It seems like a pretty sensible and efficient plan. The heat would only be wasted otherwise, so why not let it go to a good use?

it's just a transfer of energy from one place to another .. let's not get to tetchy about these things .. or do Unison think the swimmimg pool will turn into Amityville?

This is one of those issues where gut reaction gets in the way of reasoning.

In a nutshell, somebody has lit a furnace for a given purpose and has come up with a good way of using the heat that the furnace produces. No problem in principle with that.

Indeed, and concerns I might have had were immediately calmed when I read the OTT reponse from Unison. It must be a good idea then biggrin

I wouldn't mind at all being the fuel, they can do what they like with me when I'm gone.

I was, at first feeling uneasy from a swimmers point of view, and I couldn't think of one logical reason why. However, now I've had a little muse, and I'm now 'warming' to the idea. (see what I did there).

Mind you, imagine if there were a bakery next door. Rising from the............ oh never mind!

Can't see the problem with this. It's not as if they will be building a fire out of dead bodies - more, using the heat from the fire that burns the bodies.

Oh and, yes, quality lurking! smile

You might joke but some people are gravely concerned.

I say it's a great idea. I was thinking that dead bodies could be packed into sacks and used as sandbags in flood areas, too.

They'd distribute a pot of Vicks Vapour Rub to each household. They could even sew the dead faces onto the outside of the sacks and stand them upright, to amuse the kids and pensioners as they're ferried past in those rubber dinghies they use.

I could see a latter day Burke and Hare bumping off people just so they could sell "fuel" to the swimming pool company.

Or maybe a Greenie version of Sweeney Todd.

I'm off to write a sinister novel.

Sorry, but I have grave concerns regarding this.
