A 20-year-old British student who flew to America for illegal buttock-enhancement surgery has died from medical complications.
Police said Claudia Adusei checked into a budget Philadelphia hotel with three friends to have the back-room procedure.
Almost 12 hours after receiving silicone injections she complained of chest pains and was rushed to hospital where she later died.
Death: The woman died at the Hampton Inn in Philadelphia after having an injection in her buttocks
Adusei was among a group of four British women from London who had flown to Philadelphia on February 5 for cosmetic surgery.
The Delaware County Medical examiner said a preliminary cause of death is the silicone injected into the woman's vascular system which ultimately led to a heart attack.
They have not released the name of the party who reserved the rooms at the Hampton Inn or who administered the silicone.
Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
Adusei is understood to have died about ninety minutes after being admitted to hospital.
Detectives said the student and her three friends were staying at the Hampton Inn in south-west Philadelphia.
Adusei is said to have previously travelled in November to have buttocks enlargements and on Monday received a top up injection while a friend had a hip augmentation.
It is not known how much Adusei paid or if the cosmetic doctor was licensed.
